Message from the Principal
Dear Knights,
My favorite days come when I'm able to roam the campus witnessing the positive energy we have created here at ACP Oakland. Last week, I snuck into one of our yoga classes and totally zenned out with some pretty chill Knights. Yesterday, I hung out with 8th-grade science students while they worked on complicated data tables and listened to their teacher's favorite soundtracks. Then, I dodged flying ping pong balls in PLTW while I watched students test their catapults. Today, I marveled at the focus of Ms. Wines' ELA class as they prepared to write their essays. Highlighters everywhere! I guess what I'm trying to say is that your children are amazing and are coming to school ready to engage. Our teachers are working harder than ever to close gaps and gain momentum. I cannot be prouder of how our teachers have created such a vibrant, hard-working, and enthusiastic learning environment. I am equally as proud of our students for taking on the academic challenges with pride and a growth mindset.
Go Knights!

Cash 4 Classrooms Fundraiser Chandler Education Foundation
The 2020 #CashForClassrooms campaign is underway. Last year ACPO was number one! This fundraiser supports enrichment grants written by teachers and principals across the district. The number of grants funded depends on the amount of money contributed during this campaign. With these grants, educators add that extra something to make learning memorable, and take regular lessons to the next level. www.ChandlerCashForClassrooms.org.
ACP students received an envelope yesterday. Our campaign will run from today through Friday, November 13th. By contributing to Chandler Education Foundation’s Cash for Classrooms campaign, donors invest directly to CUSD classrooms! Last year, we had four teachers write grants and all four were awarded. Thank you!

YEARBOOK SALES BY PRE-ORDER ONLY
Don't forget to order a yearbook for your student(s). ACP does not buy extra yearbooks to sell at the end of the school year. Be sure to pre-order yours now before prices increase, and before presales end. Not the right time financially? Families may reserve a yearbook by making a partial deposit and periodic payments through Josten's online system. We don't want any students to miss out!
POWER HOUR REGISTRATION Week of 11/10/2020
Power Hour is an academic support we provide at ACPO on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays throughout the school year. It is a time where students can go to study and work on any of their academic classes. If needed, there is a classroom teacher available to answer questions. Space is limited to 20 students and pre-registration is required. All students must have a reserved a spot prior to attending a session. Power Hour runs from 2:50 pm to 3:50 pm Tuesday-Thursday's. Room locations are listed in the Upcoming Events section above.
Students must be picked up promptly at 3:50 pm at parent pick-up. As a reminder, ACPO does not have afterschool care. Students continually picked up late may lose the privilege of participating in Power Hour.
Notes:
- These are not instructor led sessions and parents must provide student transportation.
- In order to attend, all students must signup weekly through signup genius to ensure sufficient space is available.
- Under current Executive Order, facial coverings are mandated.
To ensure that all students have the opportunity to attend Power Hour as needed, students may only be signed-up for 1 week at a time.

Free Breakfast, Lunch AND Weekend Meal Service
Breakfast and lunch will continue to be free for the remainder of this school year with additional items that students can choose to purchase, like ice cream. :)
The USDA has allowed and encouraged us to utilize all available waivers which means we can provide meals 7 days a week! Although CUSD has curbside services, we know that picking up meals is a burden on families and sometimes they are not logistically able. The easiest way we can ensure weekend meals get into the right hands is to send them home with students on Fridays. Each Friday our kitchen staff will have tables set up in the middle of campus at student dismissal for any student to grab a weekend meal package. There is no documentation or signature required to qualify for the weekend or free meal plan.
If you have any questions about the program please access the CUSD Nutrition link nutrition@cusd80.com. Please know, that no school district funds are being utilized for this program and it is 100% funded by reimbursements from the USDA.
ACP LIBRARY UPDATE
We are currently limiting the number of students allowed in the library to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Students are able to sign up for a time to visit the library during lunch (after they eat) or for 30 minutes after school. They may sign up to work at a table, to use a computer, or to browse the collection. Students will sign up via SignUpGenius. Parents may sign up for students, but please make sure the student’s name is listed! Click here for next week’s SignUpGenius: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080844ADA72FA6F58-library3 A link to the SignUpGenius form can also be found on the ACP-Oakland Library website, which is located here: https://www.cusd80.com/domain/5815. Students may still put books on hold to be picked up in the library! Information regarding placing holds for books is also on the library website. Keep reading!
