Hello and welcome back. We hope you all had a great summer. Fine Arts has already been busy with many events. Check out what our students were up to over the break and the beginning of this year.

Alumni Spotlight - Carmen Lemoine
Dr. Carmen Lemoine is currently an assistant professor of flute at Wichita State University.
Lemoine, an NPS alumni, made a special visit to NHS on Friday, Sept. 27 to work with flute students on their audition music.

Perspective
AP Art, Art 2, and Art 3 students from NHS take a field trip to the OKC Museum of Art on Saturday, Sept. 14. The group went to see the temporary Van Gogh, Monet, and Degas exhibit.
When the Teachers Go Marching In
Band directors Matt Chandler, Stephen Meiller, Roger Nunn and Jared VanVickle welcome new NPS teachers with a brass rendition of "When the Saints Go Marching In." The teachers visited Fine Arts and PDC on Wednesday, Aug. 7 as one of their many stops throughout the district during the day.

Sing Your Heart Out
Stephanie Farnsworth (Longfellow), Annie Campell and Psalm Amos (NNHS), and Mary Kate Lee (NHS) perform at the 75th anniversary celebration for the Oklahoma State School Board Association on Friday, Aug. 23. The students performed as part of the Oklahoma Junior High All State Chorus. Former NPS superintendent Dr. Siano attended the event and visited with the students afterwards.
All About That Bass
Several NPS students attend the 2019 OU Bass Bash during the month of July. The camp was started by orchestra teacher Mark Osborn. The four day camp included techniques, jazz classes, performances and more.
Reversed Roles
NNHS band students give their parents a lesson in marching during summer rehearsal. It is a tradition for both high schools to invite their parents to learn and perform a short routine each year.
Cool Dance Moves
Reagan music teachers Brittni Bilyeu and Sara Riester lead employees in dancing during team building time on Thursday, Aug. 15.
Off the Clock
Fine Arts opens their "Off the Clock" art show to the public during 2nd Friday Art Walk on Friday, Sept. 13. The annual show featured the work of employees from all over the district as well as their spouses. All art is done "off the clock" on an employees' own time.
Great State Fair
NHS art teachers Tauri Sims and Tracy Gibson do art demonstrations at the Oklahoma State Fair on Saturday, Sept. 21. Teachers from Oklahoma Arts Education Association demonstrated all day Saturday and Sunday. Tracy demonstrated charcoal drawing and Tauri demonstrated Zentangles.
Crosstown Clash
High school band members perform Thursday, Sept. 5 during Crosstown Clash. Each high school band had the opportunity to perform their show and then performed as a group during halftime. NHS football took the victory over NNHS with a 31-24 final score.
Singing In Harmony
Elementary music teachers run through music for All City 5th with guest conductor Anne Barry. 5th graders will perform on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at the Lloyd Noble Center.

CONGRATS!
We are excited to announce we have THREE Fine Arts groups who were selected to perform at the Oklahoma Music Educators Association convention in Tulsa. They are: NHS Wind Ensemble, NNHS Jazz Choir and NHS Orchestra. The honor groups will perform in January.
