Franklin Academy Pembroke Pines
Ms. Diaz's Back-to-School Updates
Welcome to the Greatest School on Earth!
Greetings Franklin Academy Families!
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! As the principal of Franklin Academy – Pembroke Pines, I am thrilled to welcome you to a new journey in your child’s education. I am deeply grateful to each of you for your support and extraordinary dedication to our school community.
Our accomplishments this past year were monumental – we earned a school grade of “A” for the 7th consecutive year, achieved IB World School status for our Middle Years Programme, continued our designation as a Florida Department of Education High-Performing Charter School of Excellence and were awarded System Accreditation through AdvancEd!
I wish to take this opportunity to remind you of several important points. Please take a moment to review each topic in this newsletter to help facilitate a smooth start to the school year. I am honored to be a part of such a remarkable and talented community and look forward to the rich and rewarding school year ahead.
You have my very best wishes!
Elena Diaz, M.Ed.

Morning Arrival
To facilitate effective traffic flow and safe arrival, parents may not park and walk students into the building. All students must be dropped off at designated areas at the school curb. All parents are required to follow directives by police officers and school officials to ensure a safe process for arrival and dismissal.
Students should be READY to exit their vehicles on the passenger side with all required materials (i.e. backpack, lunchbox, sweater, etc.). Staff members will be on the curb readily available to assist your child. Your strict adherence to these expectations is appreciated.
Franklin Pass and Dismissal
Bus Transportation
If you applied for bus transportation and your child was approved for an eligible bus pass, the postcard/bus pass was sent by A1A Transportation via US Mail. Please have your child carry the bus pass, in original postcard form, when they are riding the bus. This process will ensure the correct bus route for pickup and dismissal for your child. If you do not receive the bus pass postcard in the mail, please secure an alternate means of transportation for your child as students will not be able to ride the bus without the proper bus pass.
New Office Hours Enforced
For safety reasons, in-person assistance in the school office/main lobby area is limited to the hours of 8:45 am–1:45 pm unless you have a scheduled appointment or need to sign in for a scheduled volunteer opportunity. Telephone assistance is available from 7:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Cafeteria Hub
This is stacking up to be a delicious school year! Our new food service providers, SLA Management, released our school’s customized Cafeteria Hub. With this tool, you will have access to monthly menus, nutritional and allergy information, payment portal, and much more. Visit our school website today to access the link to our Cafeteria Hub.
