Dear DeClutterer!
What Papers 2 Save - Donate Ur Bras! - Buy Nothing FB Group
Fabulous Organization!
What to Shred? What to Save?
A Great Way to Get Things Out and Energy IN
What Am I Most Excited About?
I don't really know which piece of info to start with! Is that I finally found a place to donate still usable bras? Or how I might answer the definitive question: how long do I need to keep certain documents? It may be sharing the pleasure of moving things out and energy in through a hyper-local Facebook group.
Which is your favorite? Which one will have an immediate impact on you, your home and your stuff? Let me know!
Onward! -- Gari
I Support the Girls
After years of wearing bras and raising two women who also wear bras, I was relieved to find an organization that provides homeless women with bras and menstrual hygiene items. I am thrilled to have found I Support the Girls with over 50 donation locations nationwide. Each affiliate takes the bras that you are done with and gives them directly to homeless women. I spoke to Kate Vicente, the Phila Affiliate Volunteer Director and almost wept with joy and wonder!
Not only does Kate receive usable bras from people like you, she also takes them to shelters in the Phila area and offers women "Pampering Days." She and her volunteers bring and apply makeup, nail polish, handbags, scarves and BRAS! Each woman gets 3-4 new-to-them bras. Kate feels called to do this work and is looking for volunteers, so if you are in the Phila area contact her. Read more here.
PAPER! What to Save + For How Long!
Below you will find 3 links from folks who know what is important to keep and for how long. I think Suze Orman breaks it down best, but you might want to take a look at the IRS website for comfort. (Whaaaa?)
What to do with the documents you no longer need to save? Shred, shred, shred. Either at home, at a community shredding event or even Staples.
