Peine Pride
February 2023 Edition
Message From Dr. Andrews
Dear Parents,
I’d like to acquaint you with the procedures we will use for determining classroom assignments for the 2023-2024 school year. Our ultimate goal is to place each child in an environment that is comfortable and conducive to the growth of the individual student. Much consideration is given to appropriately matching the learning styles and personalities of students and teachers. Of equal importance is designing a classroom in which the children will positively influence each other.
A student’s current teacher may list particular needs related to the child’s learning style and the characteristics of the learning environment that would best meet the needs of the child. Their input is valuable and will be taken with great regard. The administrative team will collect needed information prior to making placement decisions. The placement process is highly reflective and focuses on the needs of all children.
Parents are invited to share views regarding their child’s needs, learning styles, and the characteristics of the teacher that would best meet the needs of their child. If a parent wishes to express their views regarding their child’s needs, this should be addressed in writing by writing a letter or email stating such things as the most important priority you have for your child in school, strengths your child has, challenges your child may face, or other factors you would like considered (health issues, learning style, special needs, behavior, peer concerns, family history). Please do not write any specific teacher names in your letter.
Please either send us a hard copy of your request or send us your request via email by February 24. You can email your request to ryanandrews@wsdr4.org.

January Scholars of the Month
Kindergarten - Atari Payne
Atari Payne is the Kindergarten Scholar of the Month. Atari is as sweet as pie and is one of the hardest workers that I have ever met. Her smile lights up a room and her giggle is contagious. She continues to make amazing gains in her academics and wows me each and every day. Atari is a friend to everyone, is always listening, and is always willing to lend a helping hand. I am so proud of Atari as she is truly deserving of being named a scholar!
First-Grade- Lincoln Meintz
I am proud to announce that Lincoln Meintz is the January Scholar of the Month for 1st grade! Lincoln has such a kind heart and is always willing to lend a helping hand to others! He is the first to give a compliment or cheer his friends up with just a smile. Lincoln is such a hard worker and sets an amazing example for others. Lincoln goes above and beyond and is always trying his best. I am so proud of you Lincoln! Keep up the AMAZING work!
Second-Grade- Wynne Jones
Wynne Jones is an amazing student. He consistently goes above and beyond in his academics, behavior, and demonstrations of the Peine 25. Wynne is a reliable helper to his classmates and teacher. He is always on task and follows directions the first time. He does a wonderful job of actively listening to his teacher and peers. Wynne is always willing to help others feel included. He perseveres through any challenge. Wynne is awesome!!!
Third-Grade- Hailey Laumeier
I am so proud to nominate Hailey Laumeier as our 3rd-grade scholar of the month. Hailey is such an amazing example of all the positive qualities of a Peine Panther. She is a student who I can depend on to be responsible in all she does. Her school work, workspace, and classroom behavior have respect woven throughout. She is respectful to everyone she comes in contact with, and her character makes me proud both in the classroom and out of the classroom! Hailey is also a shining example of kindness. She regularly sees others in need, and eagerly finds ways to help them. She is always someone who offers a kind and supportive word to those around her and is a friend to all. We are lucky to have Hailey as part of our classroom community!
Fourth-Grade- Charlize Waldbueser
Charlize is a wonderful role model. She demonstrates the Peine 25 inside and outside of the classroom. She leads by example and is always willing to help others. Her kindness and friendly nature shine brightly on the playground and her hard work inside the classroom are unmatched. Her excellence in all of these areas has made her this month’s student of the month.
Fifth-Grade- Drake Kulow
Drake always puts forth his very best effort. He actively participates in lessons, works productively with peers, and takes his education seriously. Not only that, Drake is responsible and kind! He’s an all-around Peine Ridge Scholar!
MTSS Update-
In December, classrooms met with their buddy classes for the second time in the year. Students spent time working on gratitude and practiced ways to be grateful! It was a wonderful time to reflect and enjoy our time learning with each other.
Our January Scholars of the month for the 2022-2023 school year have been chosen. It is a High Honor to be chosen as a Peine Scholar. Only one Scholar is chosen each month per grade level. A Scholar is someone that is always giving their best effort academically and socially both inside and outside of the classroom.
Teachers have also been excitedly giving out House Points to the students for all sorts of exceptional behaviors. Reveur is currently in the lead but it is a tight race! Let’s keep those points coming!
Remember that every Friday is House Day! Wear your House colors to show your school spirit!
LATE START SUPERVISION
The WSD will once again be providing supervision for K-5 students who need to be dropped off at the regular start time on scheduled Late Start Days in the 2022-2023 school year. This is separate from our Before Care Program through Chautauqua, so if you are registered for Chautauqua, please DO NOT register for Late Start Supervision.
The fee is $10 per child for each late start day you would like to register for. Please fill out the REGISTRATION FORM first prior to paying. If you choose to use PayPal, there is a sliding scale charge assessed to cover processing costs. You also have the option to send a check in to your child's school. In order to arrange for adequate staffing, you must register and pay before the deadline for each late start day (deadline is one week prior to each late start). You may also register for all late start dates one time by choosing the dates you need in the registration form.
Future Late Start Dates:
February 6, 2023
March 6, 2023
April 10, 2023
Testing Schedule
Although it is still early and we won’t be MAP testing until May 1-May 19, we wanted to give you a heads up. If possible, when scheduling doctor’s appointments for your kids, please try to avoid the days we will be testing. We appreciate your help in making sure your child is here during this time!
