Operation Snowflake - 109 Gives Back Holiday Gift Drive Is Here!
Happy Friday, DPS 109 Families. From the snow we got this week to the lights outside, the Holiday Season is officially here. We are excited to kick off this joyful time with our Operation Snowflake 109 Gives Back district-wide Holiday Gift Drive!
Wish lists are now LIVE and will continue to be updated. You can view it by clicking here or scanning the QR code below. Each item will help a local family fulfill their holiday wishes!
We will have holiday-themed boxes in the lobby of each school between November 28th - December 9th to drop off gifts. If you are bringing gift cards, we ask that you please drop them off in the front office.
We are thankful for our generous community and are looking forward to making dozens of families’ holidays brighter this year! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact communications@dps109.org.
Inclement Weather Guidelines and Information
Winter has arrived early and we are already experiencing snow and cold temperatures. Here is information regarding our procedures for recess during inclement weather. Many factors are considered when we decide on having an inside or outside recess. These include the temperature and the wind chill, as well as the conditions of our playgrounds and blacktop areas (e.g. snow, ice, or water). We will go outside if it is 20 degrees or higher and at or above 15 degrees with the windchill (assuming the playgrounds and blacktops are safe). The decision to go outside is often made right before recess, and therefore, we request that all students are prepared to go outside every day. Please send students with the proper clothing (labeled with your child's name) including a coat, hat, gloves, boots, snow pants, etc. I know that many students feel more comfortable in the building wearing shorts. I am asking that students wear or bring pants to use when they go outside.
