The calendars will be going back to the Board in March for 'Final-Approval'. These proposed changes are a result of the continued joint transportation agreement with Battle River School Division.

First Nation, Metis and Inuit Education
The Government of Canada started the process of Truth & Reconciliation about four years ago. In 2014, the Alberta Government made a commitment to further Truth and Reconciliation in this province, partly through education.
As of September 2019 it will be mandatory for all teachers to embed Indigenous teachings into the Kindergarten to Grade 12 Curriculum. This will include content specific to First Nation, Metis and Inuit perspectives and experiences, as well as content on the significance of residential schools and treaties. An important first step to understanding why these changes are taking place is participation in a blanket exercise.
OLMP School Council will be hosting a community blanket exercise on Tuesday, March 19th from 6:30 - 9:00pm. Any parents interested in attending can email Mrs. Smith at kristys@eics.ab.ca to register. Space is limited.
OLMP School will also be hosting an Indigenous Awareness Day on March 13th which will include an opening ceremony, sessions throughout the day and a closing ceremony. Any OLMP Indigenous (First Nation, Metis, or Inuit) families interested in attending all or part of that day or who are interested in running a session are welcome to contact Mrs. Smith to get involved in this day of awareness and cultural celebration of the first people of this land - Treaty 6.
Digital safety-Momo challenge
We know that the internet can be an unnerving place but we need to equip our children with the strategies to be successful in the navigation of this online space and to help protect them from harmful media. The Momo Challenge allows us to have a dialogue with students about how to remain safe and what to do when we encounter these bad messages. This is best done at home and at school.
Attached is a document that shows some ways to help our students to be "digitally" safe and to have conversations around these harmful challenges.
**AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION**
