Principal's Message
Dear Cavalier Family,
What a historic day we witnessed last week with the inauguration of our 46th president, President Biden and THE FIRST Female Vice President, Kamala Harris! When President Biden said in his speech, "Don't tell me things can't change" I thought about how on a daily basis, we at Chula Vista Middle, enact change. We enact all of the commonalities that President Biden listed as what defines us as Americans. Security. Liberty. Dignity. Respect. Honor. Truth. Most of all, OPPORTUNITY. With every student we work with, we impart knowledge, confidence, growth, and the belief that they can achieve anything they set their minds on, most especially that they too can go on to college.
We'll work in partnership with you to provide the necessary support to get our students where they need to be. Many of them are behind grade-level and need help with organization and developing strong studying habits. Many of them are without a supervising adult by their side while we do this thing called Distance Learning. We have several things in place to help. This week we start our in-person support cohort. This is in addition to the morning office hours, asynchronous time, after school tutoring and future Saturday academies when our teachers are available. Please utilize these resources! We're here to provide the assistance students need to master content, to prepare them for high school and beyond. We want our students to take the opportunity of higher education and BE MORE. So yes, Mr. President, things can change. And here at CVM, on a daily basis, we as a school community, enact it.
MAKE it a great week ahead!
In your service,
Mrs. Lora Bumatay
