Reading and Book Selections in the Classroom
While CSPS strives to provide as much choice as possible to our students when they read, we also understand that parents have the right to guide their students’ choices, too.
Reading is a central focus in our classrooms, as we know that the ability to read and comprehend leads to lifelong success. Because of this, in our classrooms, we make every effort to provide students with opportunities for the reading practice they need to establish and maintain reading lives.
CSPS encourages all parents and guardians to be aware of what their students are reading. If you feel that a book your child has selected is not suitable, please reach out to the classroom teacher. We want to help you and your student find a book that inspires reading growth and fits with your family’s standards.
Please take a moment to read the full memo about reading and book selection options in our district.
