Pāpāmoa Primary
Growing Successful Learners - Whakatipu Mātauranga
Matt's Message
We are now just over half way through term 3 and it seems spring is on our door step and I'm sure we are all looking forward to seeing more sunny days ahead.
It's been a busy couple of weeks here at school. From Motiti Market day, attending the opening of Te Manawa ō Pāpāmoa through to team celebration hui, Te Manawanui spending a day at the Marae and our boys rugby team playing in a 7s tournament. After a very unsettled couple of years it is awesome that we can have out tamariki out and about within the community for these experiences and learning.
While our tamariki have been busy, we have also been busy working through our appointment processes for our vacant Deputy Principal Position. I am pleased to share that yesterday , alongside the board of trustees, we appointed Anna Oglesby our current SENCO into the position for Deputy Principal from 2023. We are really excited with what Anna will bring to the role, and also the continuity that her appointment will give our kura moving forward too. We will now move into an appointment process to appoint someone into the now vacant SENCO role.
Some of you will also be aware that Tracey Price, one of our Pod Leaders in the Tuhua team has also resigned and is moving back into her career prior to education with the Western Bay of Plenty District Council. We are pleased to share that Angela Braddock will be taking over teaching Room 18 from the beginning of Term 4. Angela has recently returned from 4 years teaching in an international school in Bangkok. We look forward to welcoming Angela onto the team from the beginning of term 4. She will spend some time in room 18 between now and the end of the term to ensure the transition is as seamless as possible.
In the next week we should start to see some action on the court with the replacement of the turf area. We are really looking forward to seeing this space transform.
Teacher Only Day - This Friday
As we have been sharing all term, please remember that this Friday is a Teacher Only Day for the staff. We will be working alongside professional development facilitator Timoti Harris as we begin to explore and unpack the new New Zealand histories curriculum.
We appreciate your understanding and support for this.
Ngā mihi
