Prom 'Acts of Kindness' on Friday
It's time for Aquin's 2020 Prom Dates to 'turn on the light' and perform an 'act of kindness' in our community.
Friday, May 1, the original day for Aquin's Prom, is almost here. The dates have prepared their project plans and will be out on Friday--using safety precautions--to bring some light to the Freeport area. Among the projects for the 25 couples are:
- collecting items for FACC* (Freeport Area Church Cooperative) Food Pantry
- sending flowers and 'thank you' bags to teachers
- making and sending cards to patients/residents at Swedish American, Presence Health, Liberty Village
- picking up litter/trash around Wal-Mart, Krape Park, Read Park, Freeport High School/Middle School and Aquin, Walnut Acres Care Center
- painting and placing 'kindness rocks' around Freeport
- donating blood
- grocery pick-up and delivery to elderly residents of Freeport
- 'chalk the walks' around Presence Health Nursing Home
- sending cookies to Freeport Police Department
- putting 'positive sticky notes' around town
- donating items to Salvation Army's "Hope is Greater than Fear" project
- sorting food at FACC (area churches had Food Drive Sunday yesterday and brought in many donations that need to be sorted and stacked on the shelves. One Prom couple will be there every hour from 8am-noon and 1-4.)
- sending a pizza lunch to a local doctor's office with a card thanking them for all they're doing

Rhys Love and Ashley Lamm will be collecting donations starting around 9am in the neighborhood of Farmdale, Wheatland, Countryside Court and Cimarron. If anyone outside of that area wants to donate, please contact laura.diemer@aquinschools.org and we will get your location to them to arrange the pick-up.
