Happy Spring! We hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend and time with family. We want to remind our CLA Families of a few important events coming up over the next few weeks.
Important Dates:
Apr. 18th - Non Attendance Monday for all EC Students
Apr. 19th - PTA Dine and Share Night at Culvers (located at Algonquin/Meacham in Schaumburg)
Apr. 25-29th - Autism Acceptance Spirit Week at CLA
May 4th - CLA PTA Meeting at 6:30 (virtual)
May 5-6th - No School - Teacher Institute Days
May 16th - Non Attendance Monday for all EC Students
May 23rd - Non Attendance Monday for all EC Students
May 30th - No School - Memorial Day
June 1st - 8th Grade Graduation and Last day
June 2nd - Last Day for EC/ECDEC
June 3rd - Last Day for K-7th Grade (half day)
It is going to be a busy last few weeks before the end of the school year!

CLA's PTA will be hosting their next meeting on May 4th at 6:30pm virtually. If you did not have a chance to read the April PTA Newsletter (PTA April Newsletter), check it out. This week, the PTA will be hosting a Dine and Share at Culvers and an Earth Day activity. Check out it out!
Dine and Share at Culvers
This week on Tuesday April 19th, CLA’s PTA will be hosting a Dine and Share night at Culvers. Families can choose to dine in or use the drive through from 4:00pm-8:00pm. This is ONLY at the Schaumburg location at the corner of Algonquin Rd. and Meacham Rd. Thank you for participating! Here is a flyer you can share with friends and family.

Earth Day Activity Volunteers
Earth Day is on Friday April 22nd. The CLA PTA will be sponsoring and fun art activity for each of our classrooms to participate in and celebrate Earth Day. If you would like to join your child’s classroom and help lead the Earth Day activity, you can sign up by clicking this link. Thank you to the PTA and parents for joining us!
Autism Acceptance Week at CLA
During the week of April 25th-29th, CLA will be celebrating Autism Acceptance Spirit Week. Each day will have a different theme and important message. We hope everyone will join in and celebrate with our students and staff.
Magnificent Mind Monday: Autistic people have unique and magnificent minds! Celebrate by wearing a fun hat!
Neurodiversity Tuesday: Autism is a spectrum! Wear rainbow, tie-dye, or your most colorful outfit!
What’s Your Passion Wednesday: One characteristic of Autism is to show incredibly focused passion for topics of interest. Dress to show something you love!
Thursday, Autism Acceptance Day: Love and acceptance go a long way. Wear the color you love to celebrate Autism Acceptance.
Sensory Friendly Friday: Autistic people often have a variety of sensory sensitivities. Wear your most comfy clothes or pajamas!
Eagle Scout Project at CLA
PJ Dix, a former CLA preschooler and D15 graduate, has decided to complete his Eagle Scout project at CLA and give back to the CLA students and staff. PJ will be building a new Sensory Path and Music Wall in the CLA Backyard Classroom. He is in the final stages of his project and is in need of donations to finish. Please consider donating to PJ’s Eagle Scout project.

Moving D15 Forward Community Presentation
Earlier this month, CLA hosted their Moving 15 Forward presentation. If you were not able to attend, Board President Lisa Scuzupaj and Superintendent Dr. Laurie Heinz, along with members of the District’s administrative team are scheduled at other schools in the District and in the broader community. CLA families are encouraged to attend the presentation of your child’s home school to learn about the proposed changes to your child’s elementary or middle school. On May 18th at 6:30, this presentation is also available in a few other languages virtually. Please see this flyer from the Multilingual Parent Advisory Committee for information in Polish, Bulgarian, Japanese, and Korean.
On May 24th at 6:30, the BPAC will be hosting an in-person presentation at Winston Campus JH that will be in Spanish. Check out this flyer for more information.

The CLA Staff have put together a Family Resource Center website for all of our CLA Families and the community to access. You can find information about our program and links to resources and information at CLA and around the community. D15 is HIRING!!!
If you or someone you know is looking for a position, D15 has a number of OPEN positions with various hours and positions. D15 will be hosting Job Fairs at the Palatine Library throughout the school year (see attached flyer). At CLA, we are looking for Special Education Program Assistants to work within our Early Childhood and ACES/Multiple Needs Programs. Please check out our flyer and pass it along to anyone interested!
