Hindus believe in many gods unlike most religions. They also believe in reincarnation which is when there is an afterlife. They have something called a caste system that determines your class.
The highest class in the caste systems is Priests. Then theres the Soldiers, Merchants and traders, and laborers. Then theres your untouchables.
The Untouchables are at the bottom of the caste system. The untouchables were often mistreated and looked down upon. They were emotionally, physically and sexually abused by upper-class. They often found difficulty finding work and if they did it would be the worst job you could get. They were not allowed to interact with anyone in a higher class. Then there was Mohandas Gandhi who was out to protest against this mistreatment.
The British imperialized India because they wanted natural resources & Gandhi was looking to get rid of this British rule. To start this movement Gandhi used civil disobedience. One example of Gandhi using civil disobedience is The Salt march. The salt march was a walk to the ocean to get their own salt instead of buying the salt from the British. India eventually gained its independence from the British.
