PIONEER CAMPUS INFORMATION....
QES Pioneer Campus Notes
Greetings QES Pioneer Families!
We are just days away! We will be starting full days for 1st & 2nd on April 26th. If your 1st or 2nd grader is currently attending an am/pm session, then we will assume they wish to attend full day (please see times below). Please see our adjusted times below.
April 26 - Schedule:
TK/K am 8:10-11:00 Mon-Thurs; K pm 11:40-2:30 Mon-Thurs; Fridays for all TK/K: 8:10-11:50
1st & 2nd: 8:10-2:30 Mon-Thurs, 8:10-11:50 Fri
Drop off/Pick up - we will need to check & make sure students were Covid-screened at home prior to coming to school.
TK/K: Please drop off your child in the back parking lot 5 minutes before class starts (am = 8:05, pm = 11:35, Fridays - everyone at 8:05). Ms. Abramson & Ms. Groh are excited to be able to greet and say hello to parents again, like when we started the school year.
1st & 2nd: Please drop off your child in the front of the school 5 minutes before school starts. We'll send students to the playground. Teachers will then pick up students from the playground at 8:10. Please pick up your child in front of the school. (Unfortunately, it will be a little more crowded so you may want to consider parking on the street, then walking in with your child.)
Employment Opportunities! With our return to full day instruction, we are going to be needing some more help. We will need part time aides and lunch supervisors, plus more. Please visit our website or give us a call to learn more. Thanks!
100 books Principal's Challenge! Read, read-to, or read-with 100 books by the end of May! Students can count up to 2 books/week they read with their teacher, but we want to also encourage students to be practicing their reading outside of their time with their teacher, and develop healthy reading habits. So far, we have 1 2nd grader who has met the challenge. Who else? Thanks for participating!
In closing, we appreciate your ongoing support and partnership to provide the best possible elementary educational experience for our students.
Enjoy your weekend!
Alan Reeder
Hello Alder Families:
Hello QES Alder Families,
We can't wait to see our AM/PM students for full days!
We're getting used to a few new procedures in preparation for returning to school. Social distancing is 3 feet which feels much closer than the 6 feet we had become accustomed to. We have many reminders in place to help students to remember to keep this distancing. Thank you for your support in reminding your student to maintain safety at school by keeping their distance from others, wearing their mask, and washing their hands.
We will be eating lunch outside, mostly, so please make sure your child dressed appropriately for eating outside when the weather is cooler.
Our schedule beginning April 26th is:
8:20 to 2:40 M-Th
8:20 to 12:00 on Fridays.
Employment needs: With students returning we are hiring paraeducators and teachers. Keep an eye on the PUSD website or give us a call if you are interested in working at QES.
Grades 3rd – 6th classes are participating in March Book Madness this month. Much like a "March Madness" basketball bracket, we are reading and voting on 16 books school-wide. At the end of March, we will announce our 2021 March Book Madness winner for QES. See the image below to view our books. Ask your kids what book they heard each day. It is a great conversation starter! Update: Our book tournament is wrapping up! We have decided each bracket and will now be picking the overall winner!
NO ZEROES!!! We have a campaign to be a school where no one has missing assignments or zeroes! Please help us get there by encouraging your student to turn in all of their work. What a great thing -to be able to showcase QES students for being a school where there are no zeroes. And, in elementary school, no zeroes means no Fs. How wonderful!
We have a 2021 School Motto. Our Student Council has branded this year's QES theme:
Keeping Hope and Kindness Alive at QES!! It is a fitting tribute to our wonderful students.
If you have any concerns or suggestions we would love to hear them. Please do not hesitate to email lhollister@pcoe.k12.ca.us or call 283-6557. You can also contact Mrs. Hollister or your teacher using the Parent Square app.
