DPS is THANKFUL!

On Thursday, November 17, all DPS schools had a special Thanksgiving lunch, complete with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, rolls, and dessert. In addition, every school had special visitors from Central Office to help serve and each lunch with students. We are thankful for our DPS Community!

DPS announces second chance bus service

Danville Public Schools now offers a Second Chance Transportation Service for students who miss the bus from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. If the bus is missed, contact your student's school, and the school will contact transportation services. Pick ups will be limited. Your child's attendance is important to us!

Math Night at Bonner

This week, Bonner Middle School held a math night, in which students participated in a Math Night, with fun math activities, food, and resources.

Students design Park Avenue Bulletin board

The afternoon enrichment students designed and constructed Park Avenue's school wide PBIS board for the month of November. This month, students are "Poppin' with Respect" to earn enough points for popcorn and a movie at the end of the month.

"Muffins with My Loved Ones" at Johnson

This week, Johnson held a "Muffin with My Loved Ones" activity, in which they listed to "The Case of the Missing Carrot Cake" and started a story worm.

All Danville Public Schools students have access to a 24 hour online tutoring program called FEV Tutor. Accessed through their Single Sign On portal or this link, FEV Tutor offers on-demand or scheduled tutoring sessions based around any topic they might be struggling with and is 100% FREE!

Danville Police Department holding a Thanksgiving food giveaway

The Danville Police Department is hosting our annual Thanksgiving Food Giveaway on November 21st from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the new DPD headquarters located at 2291 Memorial Drive. Enter the facility and follow the directions from staff. Please stay in your vehicles for the pickup of the food. First come, first serve. Limited supplies.

The Holiday Card Contest is back for 2022!

Starting NOW through Nov. 28, we're accepting entries for our 2022 holiday card contest. All students are welcome to submit to either their homeroom teacher or via email to ldavis2@mail.dps.k12.va.us. First place will receive $200 and use of their design for our DPS holiday card. Second place will receive $100. We can't wait to see our students come up with!

Danville Public Schools Education Foundation is hosting their second annual Turkey Trot 5K!

Also back for its second year is the Turkey Trot 5K! Sponsored by the Danville Public Schools Education Foundation in partnership with the Danville Otterbots and the Danville Running and Fitness Club, the Turkey Trot is on Thanksgiving Day and gives the community an opportunity to get active before the big meal.
