Mrs. Rhodes' Newsletter
Week of Monday, April 7th
This Week in Room 508:
On Friday we planted our own bean plants. For the next few weeks we will be watering them and observing their growth. We will keep a plant observation journal to keep track of our plants' progress.
In writer's workshop we will be editing and revising our partner stories.
In reader's workshop we will be applying our reading strategies to rhymes and poems.
Oil Ranch Field Trip
This Thursday, April 10th is our field trip!
We will leave the school at 8:30am and return by around 2:30pm. Please make sure your child is wearing safe shoes (tennis shoes/sneakers) as your child will be doing a lot of walking. Also, please send your child to school in their maroon Pebble Creek school shirt.
If your child is packing a lunch for the field trip please make sure that everything in the lunch is DISPOSABLE. We will not be bringing anything back with us. Clearly label your child's lunch and if possible use a gallon sized zip lock bag instead of paper.

If you are volunteering for this field trip, I will be sending home more information in your child's folder this week. Please feel free to contact the other parents and carpool!
End of 5th Six Weeks
This Friday is the end of the 5th six weeks! Report cards will go home next week. Students have been making an incredible amount of progress this six weeks and the last. Please continue to read with your child daily at home! This can include reading a story to them, or listening to them read to you. Reading daily at home contributes to their reading fluency and it is very beneficial for them to see your love of reading!
