Students will not be required to wear a face shield when moving in the hallways and when outdoors.
Instructions for New In Person Learners We are excited to welcome new students to in person learning! As you prepare for your first day back, please look over the procedures for arrival and dismissal and campus/ district expectations.
Students will need to bring the following:
- Face Mask Please review the RRISD mask requirements and expectations for your child while on any RRISD campus
- Charged Electronic device: Children will be using devices on a daily basis to access Spanish, DreamBox, Istation and to post some of their work. This device can either be one from home (labeled with your child’s name) or a borrowed laptop from school. Either way, students will need to carry their device back and forth between home and school.
- Headphones
- Refillable Water Bottle: Drinking fountains in the school building are closed. Please make sure to send a full water bottle (labeled with your child’s name) in your child’s backpack each day. They may use the water bottle refilling stations that are located throughout the building as needed.
- Lunch: If your child is bringing lunch from home then please make sure that all the items for lunch are together in a bag, container or lunch box. Students are also able to order a school lunch.
Note from Mrs. Oates, IB Coordinator
Counselors' Corner
Hello Parents,
We are excited for the start of a new year, and a new semester at Spicewood! We will continue to offer both in-person and virtual small groups both to extend social emotional learning concepts (small groups) and to give students opportunities to socialize and build community (lunch bunches). Our new virtual lunch bunches will be grade-level specific, and will start the week of January 11th. Your child’s teacher should be sharing new days and Google Meet codes this week. We will also continue to offer in-person and virtual guidance lessons every two weeks to each grade level, and wanted to remind you that our guidance topics and dates are posted on our website here. If you would like to view present and past virtual guidance lessons, please visit our virtual learning webpage, and choose your child’s grade from the drop-down menu.
5th Grade Parents: Please be on the lookout for information from your child’s teacher about Middle School transition. Canyon Vista is preparing a virtual “Mustang Express” school visit, where students will see presentations explaining fine arts, language, and PE elective choices. The CaVMS Counselors are also preparing a video about how to fill out the Middle School Elective choice form (which will be digital this year). We will send out all videos and materials as soon as we receive them from CaVMS. We will be available to help as needed to guide students and parents through this process both virtually or in-person.
We are also (as always) available to speak with parents about any social/emotional concerns over phone, email, and Google Meet, and can meet with students using Google Meet or on-campus depending on your current learning environment. You can request a meeting by emailing (Molly_Kentopp@roundrockisd.org or Jenna_Alyea@roundrockisd.org ), calling (512-428-3609: Kentopp; 512-428-3608: Gersib) or by filling out this form. Ms. Alyea is now going by Mrs.Gersib (she got married over Thanksgiving Break- yay!!), but her email has not been changed yet.
Wishing you all a fantastic start to the new year!
Best,
Mrs. Gersib and Mrs. Kentopp
