Captain's Log
PASS CHRISTIAN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
Ahoy, Pirates!
In a moment of vulnerability, I almost surrendered to pressure. I almost surrendered to the present-day situation. In a moment of vulnerability, I almost forgot that we are Pirates and we NEVER surrender to the difficult situations. I was reminded of what it really means when our students stood fast and stood together on the very idea that we should wait. After all, this is their moment, they earned it, and they should be heard and listened to. Parent after parent agreed--hold to our tenants of NO SURRENDER. How visionary of them!
So, it may be that we will go last. Yet, we will burn the light in the lighthouse and stay strong in our Pirate beliefs that our children deserve our best. Going forward with a strong resolve, we will hoist our anchors and sail toward a new graduation destination date of June 19, 2020, at 7 pm. On that day, we will celebrate our children’s many accomplishments. We have agreed that whether traditional or not, we will know that we have fought the good fight. Here is our graduation plan: Plan A-regular graduation in our gym; Plan B-graduation on our field; Plan C-graduation drive-in movie style with students and parents having the right to approach the stage.
Mr. West and Mrs. Mannion will release of full celebratory plan that will involve student-teacher events, senior outreach activities, and student recognition activities. I would like to commend the high school administrative team for putting together a full battery of activities for the Visionary Class of 2020 in consultation with student government representatives and parents. We will give the high school the opportunity to spread the word, before any of us. Hence, I ask that you allow them to finish the full schedule, which will be shared with parents, community, and students alike.
Here’s what we need you to do...join us in telling the world that our children are amazing by liking and sharing our social media posts. Participate in the celebration. For instance, burn your red or blue light on the porch each night until graduation. Encourage your friends to do the same. We also need you to be strong in your personal resolve-stay positive and focus on our end treasure-a successful close of the year. Cross-bones UP, PIRATE NATION!
With that, I submit the Captain's Log. #nosurrender #2020vision #committedtoeXcellence #eXcellencemarksthespot cje

LET’S DECIDE TO FINISH STRONG TOGETHER!!
Background photo: Charles Jackson Roberts serves as the school board's student representative. We are very appreciative of the work that he has done. He is a wonderful representation of our high school and district. His board updates are thoughtfully reported; yet, he works to ensure he maintains his student voice in all matters. It has been a joy to have him on our board.
Watch for our Seniors on WLOX!
