What are we learning about this week?
October 2nd - 31st: Habit 2 - Begin With the End in Mind
Reading: We are continuing to sequence events. We will then begin understanding procedural text and will write step-by-step instructions on how to do a simple task..brushing teeth, chewing gum, etc.
Writing: We are working on the final drafts of our personal narrative. We have brainstormed our small moment, planned out our writing and practiced different kinds of leads to our stories. We finished our rough draft, have peer edited and are now working on the final stage.
Nouns can take several forms. The students will be learning how to make a singular noun plural. Most of the time making a singular noun plural is as simple as adding an s to the end of the word. However, some nouns don't follow this rule. Students will learn how to change these singular irregular nouns to plural.
Math- We are continuing to explore multiplication using multiple strategies. We will work out word problems, write out equations and discuss how the math applies to our everyday lives.
Social Studies: In our classes, we are beginning to discuss the importance of a community to our lives. We will talk about our own community(Steiner Elementary), classroom community and the larger communities that surround us. We will discuss the important people, places and things to do in our communities as well.
