Primary sources are original documents like diaries, dramas, and autobiographies. They are the original piece from the person who made it. Secondary sources interpret primary sources. examples are textbooks, commentaries, and encyclopedias.

A primary source would be general Robert E. Lee's report on the seven days' battles. The file is original and write by General Robert E. Lee. A secondary Source would be the cavil war trust's report on the seven days' battles. This is because it is not an original document from the civil war. It was made by the web cite.
