Hillside Middle School | September 2016
Principal's Corner
Dear Hillside families,
As I reflect on the opening week of school, I am struck by several positive chords. First, Hillside Middle School is an amazing place full of dedicated professionals who love your kids. Lost lunches, sticky lockers, classrooms that seem to have moved overnight - teachers and staff have been supporting students every step of the way. As a new principal, I can think of no more encouraging sign of an excellent school year to come.
Second, your kids are great. No, really, they are uncommonly polite, confident, caring young people who truly make Hillside the special place that it is. I am continuously surprised by the number of students who make a point to stop me, shake my hand firmly, and say “Good morning, Mr. Jones, my name is ______. I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.” Wow.
Thank you to all of the parents and community members who have welcomed me thus far and who partner with us every day to create a unique environment wherein children can grow and learn. Please continue that partnership, either formally through the PTSA and PASSS or informally through regular contact with teachers and staff. Together, we will continue to grow leaders and thinkers.
William R. Jones, Principal

Student Council
Election information will be distributed on Monday, September 13th in Individuals and Societies classrooms. This year we will be meeting every other Thursday prior to the start of the school day. Meetings will begin at 7:30 am and will end prior to the start of first hour. There will be a schedule distributed following the election. After the general election officer interviews will take place. In order to be eligible to be an officer, students must already be elected as a representative of his or her social studies class.
