THS College and Career Center
First Edition Newsletter
A letter from the College & Career Center
Happy Fall!
As the month of October comes to an end, we are working harder than ever to promote college awareness and to get college applications started; in many cases, even finished! We will continue these efforts by providing application workshops, financial aid services, and focused personal support throughout the college bound process. Rest assured, no matter where you are in your journey, this is a journey well worth the patience and effort!
Without a doubt, there is so much to discover about colleges and careers. We hope to spotlight and explore various pathways in these newsletters and open up more doors of possibility. You may even find your next internship, scholarship, or job opportunity here. Ultimately, this issue and future editions, will provide guidance around all the ways we, the CCC team, will help you prepare to be successful in your post-high school goals.
Looking to November, our mission is to continue to ease the challenges students face with meeting deadlines from a virtual distance. Although there can be some pressure and stress surrounding the many upcoming deadlines, it is important to remember that we are all in this together! Mindfulness is key: If you find yourself overwhelmed, take a deep breath, and remember that you have a team behind you to help get you through this exciting College Season!
Warmly,
Danielle DuPee

A note about UC and CSU College Admissions Fall 2021:
When considering college applications, control what you can and trust that admission representatives understand how the social standing in today's world changes many things in student lives. How do we control what we can?
- Check your prospective college website for updates
- Remember to be creative when listing extracurriculars on your applications! Colleges are considering untraditional activities in light of the current events.
- Speak more with your Tennyson High School college advisors on how to highlight your strengths during a time of restrictive social activity.
CSU Eligibility Index Update
CSU has altered admission policy for Fall 2021 and will NOT use the Eligibility index as test scores are NOT required for admission based on Covid 19. Students will need a 2.5 CSU GPA. Mulitfactor criteria may be used in addition, visit your campus websites for more information.
UC Admissions Note
As always, UC's are still looking for applicants who have strong grades, course preparation, exhibit passionate characteristics and leadership qualities. Campuses are always looking for a well rounded student body comprised of unique students. The UCs have and will continue to assess students through a system of comprehensive review. See link for more on how applications are reviewed. How will you plan to stand out this year?
Take advantage up upcoming PIQ's workshops! The PIQ's are an opportunity to let these universities get to know you as a student, beyond your transcript.

What will “test-blind” mean?
- UC won't use your test scores to make admissions decisions.
