The Manning Weekly Newsletter
November 15, 2019
Dear Families,
I wanted to start this week with some updates for open enrollment this year, both for our families with students incoming to Manning and to our 8th grade families with students enrolling in high school!
- The enrollment window is a month earlier this year than it has been in years past; it opens on December 10, 2019 and closes on January 15, 2020.
- EnrollJeffco is the digital replacement for the previous paper-based choice enrollment process. It has been expanded to capture all students to make school information easier for families to access, streamline processes, ensure the same timeline for all schools, and give schools more time to plan for the next school year.
- ALL parents/guardians should use EnrollJeffco during Round 1 Open Enrollment to indicate whether their student will return to their current school, attend their expected school, or apply for a school of choice for the next school year.
- School Finder is available now to allow you to learn about different schools and their special offerings and programs.
- To make sure you're ready to go when the enrollment window opens, make sure you know your JeffcoConnect log in, and make sure that your contact information in that system is accurate and up-to-date. The Manning front office staff is happy to help with that if you need it!
Don't hesitate to call with any questions. Thanks, as always, for sharing your kids with us; it is our honor to serve them!

Please note these important Outdoor Lab medication instructions:
- Bring all medications to the health room by Friday, 12/06/2019
- All medications (over-the-counter, prescription, inhalers, vitamins, supplements, etc) MUST be in the original container. Pills placed into a baggie will NOT be sent to Outdoor Lab.
- Expired medication will NOT be sent to Outdoor Lab. Please check the expiration dates carefully.
- All over-the-counter medications must have directions with age specific dosing (for example, if your child is 11 the bottle must specifically state that it can be used for children aged 11). Any medication that does not state that it is for your child’s age, CANNOT be administered at Outdoor Lab without a doctor’s order. This includes items such as, but not limited to, melatonin, vitamins, cold/cough medicine.
- If an oral or nasal inhaler does not have a label and you have discarded the box, your pharmacy may agree to make a new label for it. Please bring this order when you drop off your child’s medication to your school’s nurse/health aide or it will NOT be sent to outdoor lab.
- Send only the number of pills needed for the week plus 1-2 extra doses. Please check that all inhalers have enough medicine for the week. All medications will be counted when they are checked in.
If your child has medication in the clinic and you would like to send it from Manning to the Outdoor Lab School, please let me know by _12/6/2019____.
Below is a list of medications provided in the clinic at Outdoor Lab. If you previously gave permission for them to be administered on the Outdoor Lab Medical Form PLEASE DO NOT bring these medications unless your child needs a specific type. Parking Lot Safety
We want our students to be safe at all times and this includes when they are walking around our campus and across our parking lots. Here are some reminders for both students and parents:
Parents
*Please drive very slowly through our parking lots and around our school.
*Please stay off cell phones and avoid other distractions while driving.
*Please look in all directions before you move your vehicle.
*Please remind your students about pedestrian safety and emphasize things like:
*looking both ways before crossing any street or section of the parking lot
*staying off cell phones while walking in traffic areas
*refraining from horseplay while walking in traffic areas
*making sure drivers see them before they walk in front of a vehicle
*avoid running across the parking lot
Thanks for helping us keep our kids safe!

Gabriel Carney always tries his best while working.
Matt Zahn complete all of his homework and turned it in on time!
Carson Close always tries his best while he works.

ACHIEVEMENT
Clara Melancon is doing incredible by getting great grades having no missing's, and always stays on top of upcoming assignments.
Jack Sandler is always there to help with homework and a ton more, He helped me with my math and I got a good grade. Thank You Jack!
Mia Alfaro during access finished all of her homework while staying on task
Congratulations to Ms. Claussen's Language Arts classes! You have achieved excellence in 100 7th-grade grammar skills using IXL!
RESPECT
Sophia Titarenko saw several unused sticky notes all over a desk when she was walking out of a class. Instead of passing by them because they weren't hers, she took the time to pick them all up so that they could be reused, and no one else would have to pick them up. She is always doing good things!
Neve Maude is always very kind, and when I forgot my Chromebook at home, she lets me use her's during access so that I could catch up. Thanks Neve!
Zoe Miller always makes room for me to get to my locker as soon as I get there. She is always very kind, and insists that I get to my locker before she is finished getting things herself. She is truly an angel.
TEAMWORK
Thank you to all of the Manning students, teacher aides, family members, and Manning staff who helped make Element Exploratorium successful!
