MARINER WEEKLY!

October 18, 2022

FRIDAY LOCKDOWN

As you are all aware our school was temporarily placed on lockdown Friday morning when we received a 911 notification of an Active Shooter in our building. The Toms River Police Department was immediately on scene. After determining that the call was a hoax, we went to a Shelter In Place and then re-opened shortly afterward. I want to thank all of our students and staff for their quick thinking and professionalism throughout the event. I am very proud of the way you all handled yourselves. Additionally, thank you to the Toms River Police Department for their quick response.

As luck favors the prepared, we are looking at this event and the lessons we can learn from it. Safety is our most important goal and we will work to improve in every area we can. Please speak with your children about the importance of keeping doors locked and wearing ID's. As is evident from Friday, working together is paramount.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations to senior Olivia Fraticelli, who yesterday netted her 200th career goal, a remarkable feat. In fact, Liv became just the fourth field hockey player in state history to notch 200 goals in a high school career. Way to go, Liv!

Congratulations to junior Riley Budenas for placing third in the Toms River Veteran's Day Essay Contest! Riley will be honored at the Toms River Township Council meeting on October 26th and will have the opportunity to march in the Veteran's Day Parade on November 11th!

The JV team also brought home their 2nd straight team title with a spectacular 21:51 average. with that average this JV team would have placed 5th overall in the varsity championship race. Quite an accomplishment. Leading the way finishing 1st overall was Emily Fraser, followed close behind by May Hanlon, Sophia Bloom, Marrisa Lynch, Angelina Lardiere, Juliana Escaleria, and Autumn Lamicella.

THE MARINER'S PORT SCHOOL STORE - THE TREASURE TROVE

This year the school store is starting our version of a Cinderella's Closet in the school store called The Treasure Trove.

To Donate: If you have any lightly used clothes with no holes or stains (pants, shirts, maybe some dresses or formal wear, sneakers) that you would like to donate for students in need, please have your student bring them to C08. We are asking for all clothing items to be washed before being brought into the school.

To Use: If your student would need to utilize the Treasure Trove, you may contact your student's guidance counselor and we can set up a time for your student to pick out clothes.

Thank you for the help and support, we really appreciate it.
