Hospitality Committee
Hello Panda Parents!
We hope the transition back into school mode is going smoothly for our returning Panda's and exciting and fun for our new Panda friends! The classrooms look warm and cheery and the hallways are already filled with artwork and flare...it is easy to see our teachers and staff love what they do!
How can we show these amazing teachers and faculty that we appreciate what they do??!
Cue the Hospitality Committee.
This committee is dedicated to serving the school and our wonderful staff. Whether it be monthly breakfasts and luncheons, organizing staff appreciation week, stocking the lounge or preparing for various staff events...we got it covered!
With 65 staff members your support is of great importance. We can't do it without you! Please consider helping our school by signing up to contribute to these wonderful events. Make sure to download the Konstella app, it is a very useful tool to stay connected with our school community. Please watch for sign-ups and announcements from the Hospitality Committee.
Your first chance to help will be the initial staff lounge sign-up which will be posted later this week. This provides coffee, snacks, paper products and other essentials to these much deserving teachers! It can be as easy as an Amazon order or a monetary contribution. A detailed list will be provided in each sign-up.
This year we are introducing monthly breakfast events. This month we are providing bagels, cream cheese and fruit. You can purchase the items and drop them off the morning of staff breakfast. You can also make a monetary contribution and we will purchase the items on your behalf.
We will be organizing themed staff luncheons. These events are always greatly appreciated by the staff and teachers. The first luncheon will be held on October 16th. Please watch for the sign-up in early October.
If you are interested in staying connected and helping the Hospitality Committee, please reach out! We would love any and all help. It is a fun way to get involved, support our school and show appreciation to our amazing teachers and staff.
Please email or message us through Konstella.

INTERNATIONAL WALK TO SCHOOL DAY
Wednesday, October 2nd 2019
Students everywhere will be walking to school today! There are plenty of great reasons to walk to school – less traffic, safer streets, cleaner air, and it’s a healthy and fun way to start the day! If you live close enough to school, consider walking from home, but for those who live a bit further, we will meet at two locations to walk a shorter distance as a group. Here are the details:
Location #1: Cambridge Pool Parking Lot (0.5 miles west of Penny Road Elementary, the first subdivision on your right). Meet us at the Cambridge Pool (you can even park at the school and walk there). We will be walking by Danbury and Kensington.
Location #2: Glenridge Pool Parking Lot (Corner of Autumngate Drive and Kildaire Farm Road); we will cross Kildaire Farm Road and enter Windsor Oaks neighborhood. We will exit there, onto Penny Road, opposite Magnolia Woods. Neighborhoods close by Glenridge include, Stanton Place, Wrenn Meadow, Grey Hawk, Windsor Oaks.
We will meet at these locations at 8:20am and the group walk will commence at 8:30am! Anyone is welcome. For safety reasons all students MUST be accompanied by an adult.
SHOW YOUR SCHOOL SPIRIT: Make a poster to hold as we walk! Include creative designs and what you think is great about walking to school.

Birthday Celebrations at School
Does your child have a birthday coming up? This is just a reminder that per state policy, only store bought food items with ingredients listed may be served in the classrooms. Homemade cupcakes, cookies, etc may not be served.
Penny Road, in compliance with Wake County Public School System's Health and Wellness policy, participates in the USDA's Smart Snacks in schools program. Food that is brought in for celebrations, whether it is a birthday or a class party, should primarily contain fruits, whole grains, protein and/ or dairy as the first ingredients.
Not sure what to do for your child's birthday? Healthy snacks, pencils, books for the classroom, playground equipment, and board games are great ideas! Donate a book donate to the library in your child's name (click here for more info) As always, please check with your child's teacher prior to sending anything in!
Join the PTA!
One of the easiest ways for you to support our school is to become a member of the PTA. When you join our PTA, you become a member of the North Carolina PTA. NC PTA leaders work tirelessly to advocate for our public schools! By supporting our school and the PTA, you support these advocacy efforts!
