Rangers are self-directed learners, caring citizens, and positive world changers.
A Special Message from Mrs. Nichols
Dear Rocky Creek Families,
For the past ten years, I have had the honor and privilege of serving the families, staff and community of Rocky Creek Elementary. During this time, we have all worked together to create a culture that fostered children to become self-directed learners, caring citizens, and positive world changers and will continue to do so; however, after twenty-eight years as a public educator, I am ready for the next chapter in my life and will be retiring at the end of the school year.
As you know, there is something very special about Rocky Creek Elementary - a feeling you get when you walk through our doors. Hearing compliments about RCE makes my heart swell with pride. I know these are the result of our staff, students, and their families working together to achieve great things for our children. I consider myself extremely blessed to have been at Rocky Creek and feel fortunate that parents have entrusted their most precious gift - their children - to us. As excited as I am about this next season of life, I feel sadness about leaving this incredible school and these amazing people.
You are a special group of people, and I will always be grateful for you all.
With heartfelt sincerity,
Brenda Nichols

Pennies for Patients and Hat Day!
Pennies for Patients is an organization that helps raise funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma patients. We will be participating in this fundraiser again this year, from Monday 2/10 to Friday 2/28, by collecting coins in each homeroom. Search your house for any loose change and please send in your coins with your student to help us raise money. Also, to supplement our fundraising efforts for Pennies for Patients, we will be doing a Hat Day on Feb 13th, where students can pay a dollar to wear a hat on Thursday. Thank you for your support!
A Note from Nurse Lindsey
As a reminder, if your child complains of not feeling well, please check your child's temperature. If it is greater than 100 degrees (before any medicine) please keep your child home from school. Our school policy for fever is the student must be fever free for 24 hours without medication. For vomiting and diarrhea, please keep home for 24 hours after the last time he/she was sick.
We love all of our Rangers and want to keep them healthy.
Attention 5th grade parents!
5K registration continues this week!
Important information for rising kindergarteners:
Morning Drop-off Reminders
1. School doors open when a STAFF member comes outside. Please do not drop off children and pull away before a RCE staff member comes outside. Doors are unlocked by a staff member at 7:00, and dropping them off before an adult comes out means that they are outside unsupervised. For the safety of your children, please wait until you see an adult open the school doors to let your children out of the car. Thank you for putting safety first!
2. Do NOT get out of your car in the car line. It is not a safe practice to get out of your car and unload your child, or get something out of the trunk, etc. since there are moving vehicles in the left lane. If you need to get out of your car, please park in the parking lot so the flow of traffic can continue.
3. Please pull forward. Cars should pull all the way to the stop sign if in front, and then consecutively behind the first car. Leaving large gaps creates traffic jams, so please be mindful.
4. Do NOT drop your child off in the parking lot. If you do not go through the car line, you must park and walk your child all the way across the crosswalk. Then, you will need to wait until traffic is stopped again to proceed back to your car. It is not ever safe to drop off children and send them across the crosswalk alone.
5. Students arriving after 7:40 must be walked inside. Please do not drop children off, watch them enter the doors, and pull off. This is not a safe practice, and we ask you for the safety of your children to please walk them inside. This will be ESPECIALLY important when our new security procedures go into effect on February 10.

Student Attendance
Due to chronic absenteeism reporting procedures for the state, students are required to be at school for 50% of the day in order to be counted present, regardless of whether the absence is excused or unexcused. At the elementary level, students that arrive after 11:10 am, or who are dismissed prior to 11:10 am, are not counted present for the day. On Early Release Days, students who arrive after 9:45 am, or are dismissed before 9:45 am, will not be counted present for the day.
