From the Band Booster President
Hello band families. Thank you to everyone who has registered for next band year already! We are excited to get started, even if it looks a little different than it has in the past. Please encourage anyone you know who is interested in band or going to be in band in 9th grade or as a new student to register via the link on the band website, and please forward newsletters to those families if you can, so they can start to feel connected to band and what is happening in the band prior to the summer. It was wonderful to see some of the incoming freshmen this week on the Zoom meeting. That meeting (which contains lots of helpful information) was recorded and is available on the Prospective Students page of the Band website if you know anyone who was unable to attend.
Have a wonderful week everyone. Thank you for your support of the Winter Park High School Band. Please contact Mr. Clemente, Mr. Smith, me, or any other band parent if you have questions or need help with anything.
Natalie Storch

WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS
Thank you to all of the students who have been diligent in keeping up with the weekly assignments. Mr. Smith and I know that there are many new challenges and seemingly constant changes that come with being at home and completing your classwork for all 7 classes each week. Now especially with all of your classes being held digitally for the remainder of the school year, it is even more important that you do not procrastinate and allow late work to build up. Students should be reading the newsletter weekly, as well as checking Google Classroom at least once per day.
If you are struggling to complete your work when assignments are due, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are here to help you! An issue with internet connectivity or other emergencies at home do not affect your grade, so long as there is communication with the Directors.
This is all very much different than "normal school," and especially for us in Band class when we can't all get together and be an ensemble as our class is meant to operate. In the meantime, the skills you are individually building through the digital assignments will become incredibly useful to you as a musician and help the Band as a whole. Always keep in mind, "a rising tide raises all boats".
