Shout Out
Around 9 AM on Friday my husband received a call from his brother in England to say that his father was only given a couple of days to live. I informed Veronica Rodriguez with my devastating news. By 3rd period she basically had him booked on a flight that night. When I called my husband of the news that he was booked on the 7 PM flight he didn't believe me of how fast she got it done. She was amazing!! Next I knew that I would somehow have to get my has been down to DFW to catch his flight since boarding would've started at 6:40 PM that day so as I was looking to see if maybe I could get a teacher to take over my seventh period I noticed that Mr. Elliot Monteverde had 7th period off. I called him and informed him of my predicament and he was very much willing to take over my seventh. We made it just in the nick of time for my husband to catch a flight and by early Saturday morning he was in Oxford and able to see his dad. His father died the next day. Because of the quick thinking and support of Veronica Rodriguez and Elliot Monteverde my husband was able to see his father one last time. I will be forever grateful to these two and I think they deserve a shoutout- Stephanie Jackson.
Plano East had their teacher appreciation night last night for their varsity volleyball team. Each varsity volleyball player chose a teacher that was very important to them and the teacher got to go out on the court and be introduced with their player. McMillen was well represented. Ashley Marshall, Maysaa Enaya, Lori Lysobey, and Sarah Fischer (former McMillen Teacher) were all chosen by students to be honored at the volleyball game.

Campus Flexible Professional Learning
We will schedule the Professional Learning that will count towards your 7.5 Campus Flex Hours. This learning will be focused on campus needs and designed to impact you and your team! All PISD campuses will be closed on April 2nd, so earning these hours are not optional.
Personal Flexible Professional Learning
Hours are intended to give you a voice and choice in the learning that you need to grow as an educator. The learning that you choose to attend for your 7.5 Personal Flex Hours should support your Teacher Professional Goal & Student Learning Objective, or instruction in your classroom. All teachers are expected to pursue professional learning on an on-going basis, however; if you choose not to record these hours or accrue hours in this manner you may work the scheduled workday on June 4, 2018.
Flex Eligible Learning
Personal Flex Learning should be tied to your Teacher Professional Goal, align with your Campus Improvement Plan, identified student needs, or in some way impact your instructional practice. Training (SafeSchools, Safety/Security, Finance, Assessment, TELPAS) that are compliance based or meetings (informational meetings, games/performances, planning) do not meet the requirements for Campus or Personal Flexible Professional Learning.
All PISD professional learning activities offered outside of regular working hours or days will be tagged as "Personal Flex Eligible" in MLP if they meet the above criteria, but must still be approved by your Principal or Supervisor to count towards your accrued time off.
Tracking Your Flex Hours
This year we have streamlined the process in My Learning Plan. You will be able to search for and track both your Campus and Personal Flexible Professional Learning Hours.
If you are attending a workshop or conference that is hosted outside of PISD, you can upload your certificate to My Learning Plan to request Flex Credit from your Administrator. Check out the My Learning Plan page on our website for more information.
