What is it?
Abstract expressionism is a form of art that uses abstraction to portray strong and intense emotion. The process of creation is typically more important than the end result to the artists that practice this form of art.
History
Abstract expressionism developed from many different inspirations. Many young artist's began making art pertaining to this in late 1930s and originated in New York. Many people say the movement spawned from the post-war and post-great depression traumatic atmosphere in the U.S.
