Halloween Guidelines
Halloween is quickly approaching and the staff at Spry would like to make this day a safe and fun day for all students, whether they choose to wear a costume or not. It is not expected or required that all students dress in costume.
1) It is expected that Wednesday, October 31, 2018, will be a regular day of instruction.
2) All costumes must be appropriate for the school day.
" Your costume must allow you to be able to read, write, type, and see the board.
" Costumes must meet the guidelines of the Webster Central School District dress code. For example, undergarments may not be worn as outerwear just because it is Halloween. Pajamas are not appropriate and are not permitted. Look in the mirror. If you have any questions about your outfit, don’t wear it!
" Shoes or sneakers must be worn at all times. Slippers or socks are not appropriate for the school building due to safety issues.
" Masks are not to be worn on the school bus. It will be left up to the discretion of each teacher as to whether students may wear a mask in the classroom.
" A costume is something that is worn, anything that is carried is not acceptable.
"If you decide to color your hair for Halloween, the color must be washed out before school on Tuesday, November 1st.
"Please use common sense and good judgment.
" REMEMBER, IF YOUR OUTFIT IS DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE YOU WILL BE ASKED TO CHANGE.
During each lunch period, we will have a costume contest, sponsored by Spry’s Student Council.
PTSA Lunch Break Volunteers Needed
Lunch Break is here at Spry this Fall, and parent volunteers are always needed.
There are two ways to volunteer during any of the program's three remaining Tuesday dates. You can come to school and volunteer your time, or send in a homemade baked good. Your job as a parent volunteer at Spry during Lunch Break would simply be to help with set up (or clean up), hand out crafts and guide students to available seats at craft tables, and to help the senior citizens if they need any replacement supplies, etc. To send in a homemade baked good you can sign up and then send it in with your child to be dropped off in the main office at the beginning of the school day.
Below our names is a link to a Google Doc. Click on the link to see the dates and times, and to sign up. The information you type in will be saved automatically. Or simply send us an email with the date you want.
Please contact one of the Listening Post co-chairs with any questions. Thank you!

Schroeder Seniors Names National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
Earlier this fall, approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program were announced, and three Webster Schroeder High School seniors were among those named. Congratulations to Allison Lisciandro, Lucas Lyons, and Anirudh Sharma, academically talented students who now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million. Those scholarships will be offered in spring 2019, so we will let you know how this talented trio progresses!
To be considered for a Merit Scholarship® award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. Over 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
