Week of July 21

Good evening Wheatmore students and parents, this is Principal Johnson with a few brief announcements.

Yearbook Summer Special - Order your yearbook today to take advantage of the low price of $60 at www.yearbookforever.com . This low price is good through online orders only and will last throughout the summer.

Just as a reminder, the school’s office operates Monday through Thursday 7:30-5:30 during the summer break. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment in an effort to ensure the person you need to meet with is available on that day.

I have attached three documents to the email that accompanies this weekly message. The attachments address some minor changes to our student attendance policy, our tardy policy and student dress code. These policies will be posted to our webpage in the coming weeks in an effort to assist you with planning vacations, transportation and back to school clothing purchases.

Fall academic schedules will be available beginning Wednesday August 7 in the Guidance office. At that time student drivers will be pick up an application for a parking permit. The cost of the permit is $25 and all past due fee and fines must be paid prior to receiving the application.

Week of June 9

Good evening Wheatmore High School, this is Principal Johnson with a few important announcements.

Parent and student portal to Powerschool has been disabled to allow for the calculation of final grades.

Due to the continual delay in receiving end of course final exam grades from the Department of Public Instruction, report cards are not ready for pick up. I will send a school wide message to all homes including recently graduates to alert you when reports cards can be picked up.

All underclassmen, if you have a balance owed on your school account, which would include unpaid school fees and fines, you will be asked to pay your bills prior to receiving your report card.

Rising seniors, senior portrait sitting is just around the corner. Please keep the following dates available for your senior portrait, July 9th, and 17th. Prestige Photography will set up in the cafeteria on those two days to take your portraits. Prestige will direct mail you a postcard with your setting date and time.

Hours of operation this week, Monday - Wednesday and Friday 7:45-3:45. We will be closed on Thursday for a mandatory annual leave day.

Week of June 2

Good evening Wheatmore High School, this is Principal Johnson with a few important announcements:

End of year state testing will begin on Monday, June 3. Each student received a personalized test schedule that outlines the expectations for testing, check in and check out procedures. Each teacher has reviewed with the students the day and time of each period’s final exam. If you have any questions concerning when to be at school for an exam, come to school and we will ensure you are at your test site or moved to a supervised holding location.

For students that are at school and do not have an exam in the morning but have one in the afternoon, or have a morning exam and are on campus through the afternoon, we will have a supervised holding location for students. Please note that the supervised holding location is the auxiliary gym. Even though the holding area is in the gym, no physical activities like basketball or other sport related activities will be allowed. This is a time for personal exam review for the afternoon exam or for the following day exam. Additionally, no outside food or drink will be allowed in the gym. Please have eaten your breakfast or lunch before arriving at the holding area.

Parents please know that we dismiss students only after all testing is complete in the morning and afternoon. We will not allow students to be checked out of a test session prior to the end of the test session. The morning test sessions will conclude no later than 12:00 noon.

You may still purchase your 2018-2019 yearbook from the main office, the cost is $100.

RCC students that have not returned their textbooks will be fined the cost of the book and the cost added to their Fees owed account.

Graduation is set for Friday, June 7 at 8:00 PM in Wheatmore Stadium. Graduation practice is a mandatory event for all seniors that will participate in the graduation ceremony. Practice is set for 8:30 AM with breakfast in the stadium.

The inclement weather plan for Graduation includes the ceremony in the gymnasium with viewing areas in the Auditorium and Cafeteria through live streaming. Tickets for the Gymnasium will be limited to 6 ticket per graduate. Students will receive their tickets on the day of graduation if necessary.

Seniors, school fees must be paid in full to participate in Graduation. See Mrs. Hawkins in the main office.

Week of May 26

Good evening Wheatmore High School, this is Principal Johnson with a few important announcements.

As a reminder, the school will be closed on Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day.

Our annual Senior Speakers at Graduation contest information sheets are located in the main office. Essays must be turned in to Mrs. Tuggle by May 28th.

May 20th was the last day to charge meals in the cafeteria. All unpaid cafeteria account balances are due May 28th. Seniors please for speak with the cafeteria manager about your cafeteria account balances or refunds before June 7th.

Seniors, school fees must be paid in full to participate in Graduation. See Mrs. Hawkins in the main office.

A swim team interest meeting for student and parents will be held Tuesday, May 28th @ 7pm in the Cafeteria.

A clinic for sports physicals provided by Randolph Health Orthopedics and Sports Medicine will be held at Wheatmore Thursday, May 30th from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. The cost is $10 by cash or check made payable to RHOSM. Student will need to have physical form signed by a parent prior to attending. Physical forms are located in the main office.

Week of May 20

Good evening Wheatmore High School, this is Principal Johnson with a few important announcements.

The spring Athletic Awards banquet will be held on May 22 @ 6:30 in the auditorium.

Teams are asked to bring the following food items:

Meat/Deli Trays: Track

Veggies/Dips: Soccer

Chips/Dips/Cheeses: Tennis & Golf

Bread: Baseball

Desserts: Softball

Tuesday is a big day for our seniors. We will be holding our annual Investiture ceremony known as Capping on Tuesday, May 21st at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium. Juniors and seniors are expected to dress in business or business casual attire. Practice for the ceremony will be Tuesday @ 2:00 pm in the gymnasium. Practice is mandatory.

This is a reminder that parents of seniors and other guests will be admitted to Capping by ticket only. Seniors will receive their tickets tomorrow and are encouraged to return any unused tickets to the main office to be redistributed to those with large families.

The Choral Department will have its Spring Concert on Thursday, May 23rd at 7:00pm in the Auditorium. Please come and hear our talented singers perform!

Week of 5/13/2019

Good evening Wheatmore High School, this is Principal Johnson with a few important announcements.

Our annual Investiture Ceremony known as Capping is next week. All juniors and seniors will be participating in the prestigious Capping ceremony on Tuesday, May 21st at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium. Those who wish to attend Capping as spectators will be admitted by ticket only. Each senior will receive 4 tickets next week and are encouraged to return any unused tickets so they may be redistributed to seniors who have large families. For those who are unable to attend in person, we will be streaming the ceremony live on our website.


Early graduates and seniors who have early release and want to participate in Capping should plan to be on campus by 1:45 for practice on May 21. Capping practice is mandatory for all juniors and seniors who are participating. Dress code for Capping is business or business casual.

As the year end nears, all students need to check with the cafeteria manager concerning account balances. We will not allow any meal charges beginning May 20. All outstanding balances are to be paid in full by May 28. Parents and students can visit the K12paymentcenter.com to make payment to student accounts.

Good evening Wheatmore High School, this is Principal Johnson with a few important announcements:


Students will receive interim reports on Tuesday, May 7th. Parents, please ask your student for these documents.


Seniors, please continue to turn in acceptance letters, scholarship offers and financial aid statements to Mrs. Atkins so we can recognize you at Capping. All information should be turned in no later than Thursday, May 9.


Cheer Tryouts are May 6,7,9,10 in the Aux Gym from 3:30 - 6:30

You must have a current physical on file to try out.


Kona Ice will be on campus May 9th as a fundraiser for our band program. Stop and get a sweet treat before you leave for the day and support our band program.


Color Guard and Percussion Tryouts for the 2019-2020 Marching Band will be May 13th-17th, 3:30-5:00. Students can sign up in the band room.


The Investiture Service for Seniors known as Capping will be held Tuesday May 21st at 6:00 PM in the gymnasium. All seniors will need a Wheatmore junior to serve as their capper.


Seniors - The graduation walk at your elementary school will be on Wednesday, May 22 during 3rd and 4th period. Sign up the Guidance office. You will need your cap and gown for this event! If you have not received your cap and gown and your balance is paid in full you make pick up these items from the main office with Mrs. Bugg. If you need to pay on your balance you may do so by calling 1-800-Jostens.
