GRADUATION INSTRUCTIONS (GENERAL)
Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at 9:00 a.m.
Graduation from high school will always be remembered as an outstanding moment in your life. For this reason, great care should be given in preparing for graduation and the ceremony itself. Graduation will be in the Crown Theatre May 28th at 9:00 a.m. You need to be at the theatre no later than 7:45 a.m. Seniors are to report to the side entrance of the Crown Theatre- not the lobby area.
Graduation is directed by the Principal with the support of the central office staff. The Board members and CCS cabinet members will be in attendance. There are certain rules and procedures that must be followed according to Board policy. This year there are stricter regulations on what may be worn with the cap & gown. A copy of the policy is attached to explain about cords and additional stoles. This is also part of an ongoing discussion at the Board of Education and if additional items are allowed we will inform the parents and students.
DRESS FOR GRADUATION
Everyone participating in the graduation ceremony will wear the green cap and gown.
PREFERRED ATTIRE
FEMALES: You will wear a modest, appropriate dress that will not show beneath the graduation gown. Wear dark dress shoes with a low to moderate heel, no sandals or flip-flops. Please wear/bring shoes for graduation practice held at the Crown Theatre. Hose should be skin tone. Only small, appropriate earrings are allowed, and necklaces may not show outside the gown. Please do not bring a purse to graduation as there is no place to store them. The option of wearing dress trousers with a plain white-buttoned dress shirt and heels is available for young ladies.
MALES: You will wear a white-buttoned dress shirt with a dark tie, navy or black trousers, and dark dress shoes. Please wear/bring shoes for graduation to graduation practice held at Crown Theatre. Earrings are not allowed.
"Students will not be required to conform to a specific type of attired based on gender and may choose to follow the expected graduation attire as provided for males or females to ensure compliance with Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause.
The tassel is worn on the RIGHT side during the ceremony.
Graduation caps must be worn flat with no tilt. Hairpins/bobby pins may be used to prevent the cap from slipping. A simple hairstyle is more flattering with the cap and much easier to manage. All gentlemen will remove their caps during the National Anthem.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I (THEY) ARRIVE LATE
Students should be present for all practices. Students should arrive for the 9:00 graduation by 7:45 (this means no later than ). We will be in place by 7:15 to receive students. We will begin the processional (move to the lobby) at 8:45. No one will enter between 8:45 and the opening remarks.
