AVID
Welcome back, Tiger Family!
AVID strategies are all around us at Thompson. During the months of September and October, we will focus on organizational strategies. Organization is a big part of school, and an even bigger part of keeping everything together during remote learning.
Try these strategies:
Use different color highlighters for each class to help stay organized and to remember what needs to be accomplished.
Every day—either at the beginning or end of each class—record homework, upcoming assignments, projects and tests in your planner.
Long-term projects or assignments should be recorded in your planner twice: the day they are assigned and the day they are due
Benjamin Franklin once said, "For every minute spent organizing, an hour is earned."

Our District #308 Art Department offers your child a complete visual and graphic arts program that promotes an increase in positive attitudes toward self, others, and the environment through creative experiences. Problem solving and creative learning encourage students to connect visual knowledge to core subjects and to respond with innovation, understanding, flexibility and imagination. An understanding of our world, an acceptance of different cultures, an exploration and mixture of visual culture and art history, and a recognition that differences are to be welcomed, not rejected, are essential in creating a balanced art program. I am hoping that by exposing your child to a variety of careers and professionals within our community and preparing them for an extremely competitive job market, I will help them find and follow their passions.
