October School-wide Fun!

This month for our fun activity, students received a pumpkin and a paint set. We decorated our pumpkins and lined the halls. We had a great time and added a fall touch to the school.

Election Day

Olive Elementary is a voting site next Tuesday for our local, state, and national elections. School will be in session as well on November 8th. As a pre-caution, NPUSC School Resource Officer Corey Chavez will be assigned to Olive Elementary for the day. Deputy Chavez is a trained Police Officer who works daily at New Prairie High School. In addition, NPUSC administration will be visible in the main lobby throughout the school day to ensure the public voting in the gym and our students in the classroom stay separated. Finally, any families that prefer to keep their student home that day will be approved as an excused absence (Please contact the Olive Elementary principal office in this situation). If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Rise and Roll Pick Up Change

Due to a conflict in scheduling, the Rise and Roll Item Pick Up has been moved to Thursday, November 10. Pick up times will be from after school until 5:30 pm School Time.

Vacation Forms

Is your family going on vacation? Please request a form from your teacher or the school office so we are able to document the absence as an excused family vacation. Absences will be excused unless extreme absences are an issue already.

Reading Fair Application Deadline

The deadline for Reading Fair applications has been extended until this Friday, November 4. Please consider allowing your child to participate in this super fun celebration of reading. This is a non-competitive fair, in which students can share their creativity, excitement for reading and their favorite book. The fair itself is a great way to engage in literacy activities, with the NC Public Library, Olive staff and all the wonderful student projects. Join the fun, and get those applications in by Friday. If you need another application, please just ask your child's teacher. Samples of Reading Fair projects can be found here.
