Crenshaw Cub Connections

November 8, 2021

Crenshaw Families and Parents,

Dear Crenshaw Families,

We are starting our 2nd 9 weeks now. Students are familiar with schedules, teachers, and expectations for success. Last year presented a lot of new challenges to learning. As a result, many of our cubs our missing some skills and concepts from the previous school year. We want to assure you we are working diligently to fill any gaps in learning and catch our students up to where they need to be. We need your help to make this happen. Here's what you can do to help us :

  • Make sure students are here every day - unless they are ill
  • Make sure they are here on time. We start the day at 7:15 . Students are in classrooms working just as soon as they finish breakfast. They are tardy after 7:45. When they arrive even just a few minutes after 7:45 they miss the start of the day, beginning instruction, and often feel frustrated the rest of the day
  • Please do not pick students up early unless absolutely necessary. They miss important lessons even leaving during the last half hour. Every minute is important
  • Please make sure they are reading EVERY SINGLE DAY at home for 15-30 minutes
  • Please create a routine for doing homework - the same time every day, the same place, and check to see that they put completed homework in their backpack for the next day
  • Check your student's grades in HOME ACCESS. See below for more instructions on accessing your student's grades from you phohe.
  • Contact the teacher if you have concerns about low grades, missing grades, or your student is struggling.
  • Encourage them to do their best

We appreciate all the things you are doing at home to ensure your cub's success.

Have a great week

Crenshaw is looking for some very special parents to represent our school on some district committees. It involves only 3-4 afternoon meetings throughout the school year. It is a great opportunity to be involved in important decisions and initiatives, give your feedback and ideas, and make a big impact for Crenshaw and your students.

We are looking for :

  • a parent to be on the SHAC (School Health Advisory Committee)
  • a parent of a special education student to be part Special Education Parent Advisory Committee

Please consider this opportunity. We REALLY need your help.

If you are willing to serve one on or both of these committees please email Mrs Lane as soon as possible.
