Celebrating and Honoring Black History
We honor Black History in February and every month at Adams. Teachers base this work on teaching accurate history which includes all voices and perspectives, specifically elevating those who have been excluded in the past. Through curricular choices, art, media, and literature, students learn and celebrate Black heroes, past and present, and gain inspiration to apply to their own lives in the form of social justice and understanding. Here is a quick link to learn about Black American Heroes with your child at home. Check out their reading skills and have them read alongside you! LINK Get outside and take a walking tour of Eugene's Black History using the "Strides for Social Justice" app.
Fundations Reading Curriculum
Did you know that our K-3rd grade students engage in fun phonics learning each day? Fundations, an early literacy curriculum, engages students in group and also individually and is showing results in student outcomes! Ask your reader to share a strategy with you! Here, Ms. Meg's 1st grade students practice on their magnet boards.
OBOB is in full swing!
OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books) is once again in the midst of battle season. A winning team will be crowned at a school assembly at the end of the month. Way to go, readers!

Safety on Campus: Dogs
This is a reminder that leashed dogs should remain off campus during drop off and pick-up. Though you may have a friendly dog, unpredictable environments can often change behaviors, and we also have students with allergies and phobias of dogs. Thank you for keeping your leashed dog off campus during drop off and pick-up. Please feel free to wait across the street and have your student cross carefully across the marked cross walks.
