Hawk Happenings!

Holy Rosary Bilingual Academy

Message from the Principal - Oct. 31, 2018

Happy Wednesday (and Happy Halloween)!

This weekend is one of our biggest events of the year at Holy Rosary. It is our Hispanic Heritage Celebration. It will be held on Saturday in the auditorium from 6 pm - 8 pm. Every year, we are blessed to have staff and parents take on this amazing event. They spend many weeks donating their time and talent teaching children special dances and Hispanic/Latino customs, sewing beautiful ensembles for the children to wear that evening, procuring the food, lining up volunteers, and planning the whole event. It is an outstanding evening and a wonderful way to showcase one aspect of our culture and our community. I hope you will join us to see this and to appreciate the hard work of everyone, whether they are on stage, in the kitchen, or behind the scenes. It really is phenomenal!

Important Reminders:

Tickets are available at the door and here is more information:

When: Saturday, Nov. 3rd from 6 pm- 8 pm

School Directories are Out Today!

Thank you to Amanda Schweickert for taking the lead on the school directories. You will find them in you Wednesday envelope today. Several weeks ago, we sent out sheets asking families to respond to what type of information they would like in the directory, as well as asking for corrections of any incorrect contact information we had on file. We have made changes based on the information we received back from all of our families. If we did not receive your form back, we went with the information we had. We hope you will find this directory very helpful in staying connected with the members of our community. Also, please check out (and support) the local businesses that you see in the directory. We need to support one another and it is always nice to use people you know for services you need. Thanks!!

From the Development Desk

Annual Fund

Please show your support with a donation to the school’s Annual Fund Appeal! We have a lofty goal as we hope to raise $100,000. We are currently at $23,000. We need 100% participation from our families and staff to make this goal. This fund is important to our school as it helps fund curriculum, staff training, financial aid, and many other initiatives. A fee of $50 will be billed to any family who does not make a donation by January 1, 2019.

You can easily make a donation online at: https://secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/o5kPfZnwU-9YPZxE8gatew or you can fill out the pledge envelope and return to the office. Any questions, please email: smckinney@holyrosarybilingual.org.

Thank You!

Finally, we want to thank the families/staff who have already sent in their pledges/payments.

Events Committee

During the year, we host an Annual Gala on February 23, 2019 and an Auction on May 4, 2019. Both events are very important to raising necessary funds for our school. You will hear more about these events in the coming months. There is a committee of parents and staff that put these events together. This group is in charge of putting together event procurements, securing donations and sponsorships, set-up, event execution, and more. If you would like to serve on this committee, please email Sarah McKinney at: smckinney@holyrosarybilingual.org. We usually meet once per month and as the events get closer, twice per month. This is a great opportunity to log some of those family service hours.

What's Going on with the Church?

If you have been in the church lately (or have heard from your child), you know that it has an area that has been coned off due to some water/ceiling damage in the back near the choir loft. We have had a number of people out to inspect it from the Archdiocese, construction companies, roofing companies, and several others. The area has had a preliminary assessment and an additional inspection is being done, which will take a couple of weeks to complete (perhaps you have seen the 85 foot lift at the school). We want you to know that student safety is a critical concern for us at the school, the parish, and the Seattle Archdiocese. Holy Rosary Church is considered safe for the children to be present at mass, however we will be entering and exiting through the side door, not the front doors as to avoid the coned off area. We will keep you updated as we know more. If you have any further questions, please contact the parish office at 253-383-4549. Thank you!
