District 97 Seeking Nominations for New Monthly Profile Series
Putting the Icing on the Cake
With the construction project winding down, we have the opportunity to begin working on enhancing the grounds.
At our request, the contractor left a large section in front of the school where we can plant a flower garden. Our goal/idea is that all students will be involved in planting and caring for the garden.
My initial thought was to plant fall bulbs, but I now realize that much more is needed to keep it looking amazing from spring through fall.
The immediate need is for help in designing the garden. If you are a landscape designer, have a connection to a landscape designer, or just have a passion for gardening we need your expertise. A design would be needed by October 5th to ensure enough time for gathering materials and planting. Please contact Margaret O'Malley, momalley@op97.org, if you are able to assist in the design process.
Our garden project needs to be fully funded with donated time and materials. Our students, along with teachers and staff, will provide the gardening labor. Though I'm sure additional help will be needed.
Once we have a design in place, we will reach out again for donations of plants and bulbs.
We're optimistic that the garden can be planted this fall and are already anticipating the kaleidescope of color and texture that will bloom come spring.
