At Home Learning
#2 - April 6, 2020
Show your Magee Spirit this week!
At Home Learning
We recognize that both learners and families have different schedules during this time. We do not expect that learners sit and do all of their work in one sitting every day and we are also not trying to recreate a 7 hour school day. Somedays work better than others for learners to work. Many people find that a daily schedule works really well. If the learning time is at the same time every day, learners fall into a predictable schedule that is comfortable.
SeeSaw allows learners to submit evidence throughout the day. Please help your learner know that while their teachers are available, they are also not sitting at their computer for 7 hours straight either. Feedback will not be instant, but it will happen. Many of our teachers have famiies and children home with them as well and are working to balance the load just like our families are.
And I would like to reiterate, that you should please do what works for your family. If working certain days is best do that. If working in the evening is best do that. If your family best works on weekends, do that. If it is just not working one day, walk away and come back to it at a different time. We do not want to cause more stress in families. Please reach out to classroom teachers if you have questions, concerns or struggles. :)

Student KMSD Email Accounts
A reminder that student email accounts should be used for KMSD educational purposes only. They should not be used to sign up for other social media or online activities such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc. Although most of our students are too young for the requirements of these platforms, it does happen. If you wish to sign your child up, you would need to create a different email account not associated with KMSD. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Helping Technology Work For You...or at least with you!
We have all learned an awful lot over the past weeks! Our goal is to make this easier for you. Below, you will find some tips for both SeeSaw notifications and Google Meet. Additionally, the resources pictured below are on the Magee website, FAMILY RESOURCES tab, At Home Learning, then click on Tips and Resources for Families.
The Big Life Journal is FULL of things for families, learners, and siblings! Just thinking out loud, it might be good to cut up or write on papers in a jar and pick one out if your child says, "I'm bored!"
SEESAW:
To personalize the notifications you get in Seesaw, please visit the link below for directions. There is a setting that allows you to get ONE notification per day. :)

CHROME/GOOGLE MEET:
To add the Grid App/Extension to Google Chrome, you need to be in the Chrome browser:https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-meet-grid-view/bjkegbgpfgpikgkfidhcihhiflbjgfic
It should automatically appear when your enter a Google Meet. It will be in the right hand corner. The app allows you to see many faces at once. :)
