Asthma Awareness- Fly the Flag

To kick off Asthma Awareness month, Girl Scout Troop #6450, would like to introduce you to the School Fly the Flag Program. The Fly the Flag Program uses colorful flags to help the school community be aware of daily air quality conditions. The flag colors correspond to the EPA's Air Quality index, which tell how clean or polluted the air is for that day. The porpose of the program is to help students continue to exercise while protecting their health when the air quality is unhealthy. Starting soon, Troop #6450 will be posting a flag on the cafeteria window. When you enter the cafeteria each day, you can see the Air Quality index rating! Together, we can be a happier, healthier school community!

8th Grade Dance May 8th

The SMS Student Council has announced their plans for the Aloha Hawaii 8th grade dance on Friday, May 8th. This dance is for SMS 8th graders and parents/staff only. The dance will be held in the SMS Great Room. Doors open at 6:30. Admission is $3. The dress code is beach wear/school casual. Students must be in school on May 8th to attend and they must not have any zeroes in Harmony. All work must be completed prior to admission to the dance. Light refreshments will be available. Attendees will take a class picture at 7:30 PM and that picture will be available for sale.

Spring Pictures

Spring pictures are here! If you sat for a spring picture last month, your pictures are here and ready for review! You can look at your picture packet Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday during lunch. If you think your parents will want to buy some or all of your pictures, you will sign for the packet and take it home. Your signature is your agreement to return either the full, uncut packet, the money for the full packet, or a partial packet with money to pay for the pictures you are keeping.

Students that take packets and refuse to take responsibility for return or money will not be allowed to attend the 8th grade dance or the spring fling events that all teams hold in late May. If you don't want your pictures at all, you won't sign for them and they'll be returned to the picture company. If you have any questions, ask in the office.
