The CHEW program serves 560 students in Onslow County schools and 96 of those students are here in the Richlands area.

Our goal is to collect 900 pudding cups. CHEW uses approximately 400 pudding cups a month. Please help the students in our community by donating. All donations remain in the Richlands area.

English ACT Word of the Week
blatant (adj)
Glaringly obvious; sounding loudly and harshly.
That Joe would jaywalk in front of a police officer is a reflection of his blatant disregard for authority.
Math ACT Problem of the Week
The answer to last weeks question was H) 336. Since the sum was 420 and the average score and median score were the same, just divide 420 by 5 - that's 84. This is the median. Subtract this value from 420 to get the sum of the other 4 numbers.
See question below.
Answer to this week's problem will be posted in next weeks newsletter!
Chemestry Honors/ AP Environmental Science
Next year RHS will be offering a yearlong pairing of Chemistry Honors and AP Environmental Science (or APES). (Students who have already taken Chemistry can still register for APES).
AP Environmental Science is a hand's on elective science class that can earn you college credit!
In the course, we study the relationships between humans and our environment, looking at many of the consequences the earth has experienced because of our impact. While it incorporates all branches of science, it is very different from Earth and Environmental Science, because we are studying what is currently happening and the role we play in fixing it.
If you have any questions about AP Environmental Science or would like to pickup a brochure please feel free to come and talk to Mrs. Allgood (in Room 1112) about it!
