No Excuses University Assessment
By: Takara Johnson
"Assessment is not about you as a teacher; it is about your students."
After reading this chapter, my mindset has been validated and I agree that every school system should have a leadership team. They should have meetings and collaborate with one another in decision making that will be beneficial to the students. Also, while reading I read that leadership teams may not always agree, but they always take action (Lopez, 2013).
Defending our Assessment Practices
- Why are you participating in the assessments that you use with students?
- Can you share explicit detail the value that you find in each assessment?
- Do you participate in assessments that you find no value inf or students?
- Are you using an assessment you have no idea how to deliver, but are afraid to ask for help with?
How might you use these questions in your anticipated practice? I would use these four questions in my anticipated practice as an assessment tool to ensure that the information being provided to my students are effective to them and that I also have knowledge of the assessment giving to my students.
Value that might add to my practice by keeping these questions in mind is that the assessments giving to my students are for them and based on their needs instead of mines.
