Mrs. Bethany Young: Middle School Science and Math
Mrs. Bethany Brown just finished her Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from UNCW. She also obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from UNCW in Marine Biology with a minor in Chemistry.
She loves reading, running, and anything to do with the outdoors, but one of her favorite places is anywhere with salt water. She loves most animals, especially marine ones. She and her husband got married in 2015 and recently moved from Wilmington to Wake Forest.
Mrs. Carol Nelson: Middle School English and Social Studies
This is Carol Nelson's twenty-eighth year teaching for Granville County Public Schools. She was born and raised in the Grassy Creek community and lives there on the lake with her family. Her husband, Jeff, is from Creedmoor and is finishing his thirtieth year teaching with Granville County Public Schools. Miranda, their daughter, is a senior at J. F. Webb High School of Health and Life Sciences. They have three completely spoiled dogs and two horses. She loves to read mysteries, travel to cities, spend time with her animals and people, watch her daughter show horses, and teach kids. Her undergraduate degree in middle grades ELA/SS is from UNC-Chapel Hill and her master's degree in Reading Education is from East Carolina University.
Mrs. Nelson looks forward most to the small groups of students and the ability to personalize learning for each. She also is grateful for the family atmosphere at Granville Academy since she has already met almost every single parent.
