Discovery Elementary School
December 7, 2020
From the Principal
Dear Discovery Families,
As we head into the holidays, our staff would like to thank you for trusting us and sharing your children with us! They bring JOY to our lives. They remind us to be grateful for even the little things. They matter to us.
We are very proud of our students and their hard work! We will be celebrating all things the Discovery Way on Friday for Spirit Day! Next week (December 14-18) is a DISCOVERY Holly Jolly Week! Each day we will have a special dress up theme to focus on the JOY of the season! Help your child participate by planning for each dress up theme! Help us spread the JOY!
Happy Holidays! Stay safe!

COVID-19 Reminders & Information
- If someone in the household has a Covid-19 test, the whole household needs to quarantine until test results are received. DO NOT SEND YOUR STUDENT TO SCHOOL WHEN WAITING FOR A FAMILY MEMBER'S TEST RESULT.
- Please contact school nurse if your student has been exposed to Covid-19 or is tested for Covid-19. Isolation is critical in slowing the spread at our schools.
- A negative test result AND a doctor's note are required for a student to return to school. The negative test alone is not enough if student was or is symptomatic.
- Any Covid-19 like symptoms should not be dismissed. We must err on the side of caution and keep students home if ill.
- If you are unsure of a situation or have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the office. Wait to send your child to school!
- If there is positive case at Discovery and your child was a close contact, you will be notified.
The iReady Nice List
Please have your child login to iReady Math (K-5) and iReady Reading (1-5) / iRead (K) over break and complete lessons!
Students will earn a special BRAG TAG for completing their minutes!
iReady is personalized for your child. It serves as an intervention to fill in gaps in their learning and an enrichment to challenge students with new and advanced skills.
Your students can show you their progress each week. Sit with your child and watch them navigate the program and pass lessons!
First - Fifth graders should complete 50 minutes each week. Kindergarten should complete 30 minutes each week.
