From the Principal's Desk
Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Let the parade begin. To ensure a safe, fun and orderly event, I would like to review the guidelines for our Halloween parade:
Please have your child use his/her imagination to escape into the world of make believe and fun without offending or frightening others. To do this, I encourage you to think of our Halloween Parade as a procession of theater or book characters that you would want your children to portray. Violent characters and bloody and gruesome masks have no place here at school and will not be allowed. We are requesting that parents use good judgment in helping their children select a character and costume which is appropriate for even the youngest child to see. Characters from grade level literature provide wonderful alternatives to characters from horror movies.
We invite you to join us for our Halloween Parade on
Friday, October 30 at 2:30 PM.
Parking will be allowed on the playground lot at 1:45 PM. While we strongly suggest that you have your child take the bus home, for those parents who need to take their children with them at closing time, we have developed a special pick-up plan which you can find below. Please follow these directions in order to help us avoid congestion and confusion. All children not signed out at their dismissal doors will be dismissed as usual at 3:15 PM.
If you have a question, please call me. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in making this a fun day for our children.
If you are planning to pick-up your child/ren after the Halloween Parade, please help us to avoid congestion by following these steps:
1. Look on the map for the designated dismissal location of your child's teacher
2. Sign out your child on the clipboard outside the designated room
3. Wait for dismissal in front of the outside doors before 3:10PM.
Children who will go home on the bus or stay in the after school program as usual will be dismissed at 3:15PM.

Thanksgiving Share 2015
During this Thanksgiving season, the staff and students of Doyle Elementary School plan to share the spirit of this time of warmth, caring, and love with families from our local neighborhood. We would like to share this project as an entire school community and create Thanksgiving baskets for our families who need extra support. Through this cooperative effort of Doyle’s staff, students, parents and community members, we can realize again the valuable lesson that real joy in life comes from sharing.
The Thanksgiving Share collection will be from
Tuesday, November 3 to Thursday, November 12, 2015.
If you would like to donate a turkey for our collection you can either donate your “free turkey” receipt that you earned from your grocery store or purchase a turkey for our collection.
Please send in a note about either type of donation and include your name and contact information in an envelope marked “Attention Ms. Kowalchick / Thanksgiving Share.” If you are donating your “free turkey” receipt, please send it in with your note.
**Please understand that this project is purely voluntary.**
Please help us by reading the list on our website flyer, which will tell you what each classroom is asked to contribute.
Thank you for your help and support!
Ms. Tracy Kowalchick
