The Paw Print
Burke County Public Schools Official Newsletter
March 11, 2022
Welcome back to everyone's favorite newsletter, The Paw Print! We don't know how many of you know, but this coming up Sunday is the start of Daylight Savings Time. So adjust your clocks Saturday night! Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 2:00 AM. At this time, we “spring forward” one hour!
Here at The Paw Print, we like to look for the positive in each day. So instead of focusing on one hour of less sleep, let's think about what we'll be gaining....
- There’s more light to enjoy in the evening.
The crime rate drops during daylight saving time.
It minimizes energy consumption
reduces traffic accidents.
Just keep the above-mentioned benefits of daylight saving time in mind and don’t fall victim to a bad mood. Remember, Happiness is a Choice!
Only 9-weeks left in this school year, so keep working hard and stay #BearBuilt!
Superintendent Dr. Angela Williams Receives Women's Servant Leadership Award
BCPS wishes a big congratulations to Dr. Angela Williams for receiving the 2022 Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award on March 8. This honor is bestowed by members of the Women’s Legislative Caucus, a bicameral, bipartisan caucus of female legislators in Georgia. The award recognizes and celebrates the exceptional leadership and service of women in their respective communities.
We give thanks to Dr. Williams and recognize the tremendous courage and commitment serving our community requires during times of unprecedented challenges. Despite the personal challenges we've all faced during the pandemic, Dr. Williams has persevered and kept her focus on serving others.

Track My Bus!
Wondering where your school bus is RIGHT NOW? Well, wonder no more! Burke County Public Schools offers a bus tracking program that shows the Live location of your bus.
Follow these steps:
1. Click the bus image above, and it will take you to a roster of all the buses in our fleet and its tracking link.

KIDZ KORNER
Word of the Day
We challenge you all to use this word as many times as you can this week, extra points if you use it in the right context, EVEN MORE points if you have to explain to somebody what it means!
National Day Calendar
March 9 commemorates National Barbie Day, National Crab Meat Day, National Meat Ball Day and National Get Over It Day. Burke County families can celebrate these special holidays by hosting a community low county boil, crab meat and meatballs being the main ingredients, where all of the attendees dress in their favorite Barbie attire and bring their favorite dolls. To make for a pleasant meal, everybody can then rant about their most recent inconvenience that has left them angry for 3 hours (or 3 weeks) far too long (because everybody likes to hear other people rant)... then tell each other to GET OVER IT. Life is way too short to live angry!
Women's History Month
March is National Women's Month! Women serve an important role in all of our lives whether they be our mom, grandma, teacher, sister, or just a female role model!
Women's History Month celebrates all women have accomplished throughout history that tends to go unnoticed.
In honor of Women's History Month, there is a video attached below that gives examples of totally awesome women throughout history! While watching, be sure to think about all the times that totally awesome women have impacted your life and thank them for all that they do!
