PTO News

In this pandemic year, the process for families to learn about school choice and qualify for Capitol Hill will be different - which could impact our school enrollment and budget. Instead of a brick-and-mortar school choice fair, families will learn about schools virtually. Students will submit portfolios and will not be taking the CogAT7 test. Join the Capitol Hill PTO on Monday, December 14th from 7-8 pm on Google Meet (link will be shared in the next Headliner) as we brainstorm what our school community can do to help SPPS families learn about Capitol Hill.

Virtual litmobile Update!

As part of the litmobile virtual activities, Walter Edwards, a third grader in Ms T's class, and Ms Schibel created their own horror story. We present it here for you and challenge any artists to illustrate this story. Send illustrations to

On Wednesday, the litmobile hosted 2 fan groups. The Harry Potter fandom challenged each other with trivia cards. Participants were Elly (9th grader), Jay'Quan, 8th grader, and Hannan, a 6th grader. The Wings of Fire fandom included Penelope and Zahra, both 4th graders, and Ms Schibel. They talked about dragons as they drew.

On Thursday, reading buddies gathered and shared books at the virtual litmobile. We started out with a fun fairy tale escape room to warm us up and have some fun. Then, 6th grader Leah read Farfalina and Marcel which is a sweet book about friendship. 3rd grader Britney, from Ms Simmer's class, read us 2 books with the help of her sister Precious, from Ms Locke's class. Their brother David was also in attendance. The books they shared were Flower Garden and Pete the Cat and the Cool Cat Boogie. We wrapped it up with Lupita Nyongo's Sulwe and a share out about 1 beautiful thing that we recognize inside ourselves.

Tips from our Mental Health Team!

Moodie Mondays (just for YOUTH)

This year has been hard. We asked kids and teens what might help... and they came up with the idea of "Moodie Mondays."

Moodie Mondays is an online space just for Ramsey County youth/teens. You can be moody- or not- no judgment here! It's a place for healing, belonging, and hope. It's a place to learn and share and make connections with other youth who care about mental health. Best of all--- it's new so you can make it whatever you want it to be.

Resources, Prizes and Gifts- YES! Each month, we'll get together through Zoom to watch a movie, do an activity like art, music, or yoga, bring in a guest speaker, host a virtual talent show or have an online pizza party! Some events will be for teens, some for youth, and some for "all ages" but we'll ALWAYS give away cool resources, prizes, and gifts!
