Mr. O'Neils Grade 6
Room 20
Science
Our Science classes will be geared towards using Nonfiction text features to examine the concept of Thermal Energy and how it interacts with the world. Students will be using these main ideas and supporting details to show what they know with a writing assignment.
Math
In Math we finished the week with an assessment on converting fractions, decimals, and comparing them. The assessment will be handed back to students tomorrow for them to reflect on their own progress in math.
The next unit of study is Rational Numbers.
Students will apply and extend previous understandings of numbers to the system of rational numbers. Understand that positive and negative numbers are used together to describe quantities having opposite directions or values. We will be utilizing Khan Academy in the classroom as well as at home. Students should refer to their notes and the examples that they have in their Binders when completing their homework.

Class Dojo
On Friday the class and I discussed a new method to help keep parents and students involved in their progress in the 6th grade. I sent home with them a flyer for parents to sign up for the app Class Dojo. Please take a minute to sign up and explore this interesting site to help track progress. Each child has an independent code to be able to access their information.
