The Hasty Howler
December Parent Engagement Newsletter
From the Principal
Greetings Husky Family
We hope that you all had a restful Thanksgiving full of joy with your family. As 2020 comes to an end, I want to express our sincere gratitude to our families for your continued partnership and collaboration with us. A strong education is one where the student, teacher and parent all work together toward the common goal of educating our children. We love being able to share them with you.
It’s hard to believe that we are almost at the halfway point of this school year. The first semester was filled with dynamic teaching and learning in both our Face-to-Face and Digital Learning classrooms. Hasty is blessed with a fantastic staff that shows a tremendous amount of care and joy working together to meet the needs of each individual student.
As the holiday season approaches, please give your child the gift of time. Parents can continue to be an active participant and help with their children’s education by maintaining a good routine of reading and writing. This time of year, engage with your child in writing Holiday letters and cards. Holiday baking gives students practice with reading directions and practicing measurement skills. Play games such as "Red-Light Green-Light," "Mama, Puedo," and "Simon Says" that require talking, listening, following directions, and giving directions to practice speaking and listening skills. This is the time to provide your child with the memories he/she will never forget. The holiday season is all about giving, and the quality time you spend together can be better than anything wrapped up in a bow under the tree.
In closing, thank you for your continued support. The staff at Hasty Elementary would like to wish you all a safe and relaxing holiday season and hope you all have the opportunity to share time with your family and friends. 2021 promises to be an exciting year of continued growth and adventure for our students and school. Thank you for your partnership.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rosario-Regan

Winter Break
Beat boredom during the winter break? Check out this video for ELA and Math Activities. Winter break means a well-deserved rest. But before you know it, the kids will be back in school. To prepare for a smooth return and successful 2nd semester do not let reading, math and writing slide completely during the winter break. Consider keeping your child in a good routine and engaged by trying these activities to keep skills sharp:
- Read for pleasure
- Invite your child to join you in the kitchen helping you measure, count, as you cook a special recipe
- Write a thank you note to a special guest or to a gift-
- Play I Spy games when traveling, look for letters, numbers or colors on signs, license plates, cars
- Ask your child to help you write a grocery list
