Magnet Updates

Languages & Electives

As I walked down the hall this afternoon, I passed vibrant Matisse cut outs and I heard the echoes of an African drum circle. It was a beautiful moment that caused me to reflect deeply, when I know so many of our fellow NC citizens are piecing life back together after Hurricane Florence. We are so grateful to be back at school with our students! While the start of our languages and Quarter 1 electives were delayed, it's wonderful to see them all in full swing! Can't wait to share more of their amazing work!

International Dot Day & UN Councils

International Dot Day was on Saturday, September 15th. This year we will be celebrating Dot Day with our UN Council kickoff on Friday, October 5th. UN Councils will begin by diving into The Word Collector by the incredible Peter H. Reynolds. Stay tuned for a parent survey regarding UN Councils; we would love your support and participation!

International Peace Day

2017 Peace Day Theme: This year's #peaceday celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: "The Right to Peace- The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 70."

The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") is observed around the world each year on September 21. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.

From education to the arts, social justice to sports, health to the environment, neighborhood issues to service for others, there are many ways to participate in Peace Day!

It was a powerful day of promoting peace at Wiley. We joined the peace wave around the world by honoring the global minute of silence for peace at 12:00 pm. Students at Wiley participated in a variety of ways. Some classes made music or art for peace while others took part in yoga. Our soccer enthusiasts loved One Day, One Goal!
